I want the castle to be a reward. Even better if I have to conquer it, and then defend it. I'd like to have the option of upgrading it (with visual upgrade to) and recruit people to live and work in it.

Like the Assassin's creed 2 ville? That sounds like a wonderful Idea.

This sounds interesting, but in AC the villa was pretty purposeless: you wait wenty minutes, buy a few paintings, make more money, buy more paintings/landmarks/shops, make more money, etc...it's a neverending loop that gets old eventually. Have more use to it than that.

You mean the unwilling kind of slaves, or the kind of slaves who are in it for laughs?

Unwilling of course. We tried the willing slave in Da2 and the girl turned out to a total yawn fest.I want a slave reminiscent of Hanharr from kotor 2.He was defiant at first but through Agressive dialogue, you could break his will untill he was subserviant to the pc's every whim.

Sorry, phrased the question poorly. Actual slaves, or just really fun LIs?

Or actually, I think I can guess from the tone of your above post. Never mind.

(By the way, there really ought to be a slavery option in this game. It's officially illegal in Orlais, but apparently that doesn't actually stop anyone.)

I like Castles. Upgradeable money-sink Castles that can be outfitted to suit your Inquisitor's personality type/backstory/class. A bit of a meanie-pants? Have a torture chamber. The Religious type? An altar to the Maker and a priest to sing the Chant. Magically inclined? Ooh, a lab would be nice, and a library, along with an apprentice mage or two to make potions. Or hey, all of the above just in case we ever find the need ... I did like the strongholds in NWN2 and BG2 which started off as ruins and the PC had to restore them to glory throughout the game.

Being able to choose decor would also be cool - Maybe a touch of Tevinter militarism or Orlesian panache. Or just having the whole place a bit brown and smelling of wet dog for those still suffering from Warden withdrawal!

Rooms for companions, yes please. Staff, including a seneschal and a couple of merchants. Upgradeable combat/defence as in Vigil's Keep -  as well as enemies to defend it from -  and quests for your vassals or whatever.

Secret bits to explore and get side quests from.

This is all sounding too exciting. I think I need to prepare myself for disappointment, like it turns out everyone misheard and we're not getting a castle, we're getting a cabin ...

I read the article myself. I'm pretty sure it said "castle."

I liked the ability to customize which buildings are put in in Neverwinter Nights 2. Other than that, I want a good layout, one that will let me interact with all the companions hanging around without crossing too much distance. It's cool that they all have their own space, but I don't want too much pointless running around.

We should have mentioned this at the begining, we like to solve our problems with violence. Sweet, drawn-out violence.

I want to be able to customize my castle--at least the inside. I don't want a warrior/mage/rogue option.

I want to be able to customize the interior the way I want, sort of like Skyrim. If I want a library, I can have one. If I want an alchemy room, I can have that too. If I want a practice room to swing my sword, I can get one (even if I'm a mage!). Furthermore, I'd like to be able to change the colors of things. For instance, if I don't care for the pink rug, I can make it blue or purple instead.

I'd also like to be able to store my stuff. So if there's a robe or armor I like, I can keep it around even if I find something more powerful but not as cool looking. I think it would be neat if they had an weapon rack where you could store various weapons you have. I know I always have a few, even when I play as a mage.

Having staff on hand would be good too, a couple of characters to manage things while I'm away. They could do improvements or other tasks I assign like helping a follower get a room if there is an option for party members to stay with me (LI or not).

Does this please you?

What are you hoping to see?

It's certainly an interesting prospect, and any new DAIII info pleases me. However, I immediately thought of Rampart, and wondered if I would have to start plotting cannon placement.

I think it would be rather nifty to be able to see your inventory on the walls or on shelves - next to tapestries of course (and the tapestries should depict highlights from the adventures of the Warden and Champion).

I'd love for some customization. Like maybe you have 2 slots open to hire an armorer and a weaponsmith, but there's several people in the game you can hire for that. And what you can get out of that depends on who you hired (say a dalish elf gets hired to make your armor, you get dalish looking armor from them)

I'd like something like NWN 2's upgrade system or BG II's strongholds. I'd also like the castle to reflect your class.

I liked NwN2's take on it, sure, I just hope it's not as weirdly implemented, it was annoying to watch the "time left" number suddenly jump from 40 to 90% after completing one quest, so timing some of the upgrades and stuff could be weird.

What I'd really like would be if your various companions (at least some of them) have their own groups of followers and depending on your relationship with your companions you get different things going on with their followers viz your castle, like, some of them will go on patrols for you and do a good job but others tend to be drunken trouble-makers.  How you deal with them should affect your companions and vice versa.  That could be a cool way to integrate the companion and castle mechanics.

Not forgetting of course to blockade it with 7 other smaller castles as distractions.
