Co-sign.

I've stayed firmly in the "Harbinger is a tool" camp. Admittedly, I'd enjoy it if he had some dialogue added to the game for old times' sake, but I'm certainly not going to cry over not hearing of his voice again.

What exactly do you want out of a Harbinger appearance anyways?

Some sort of battle, maybe he possesses  a super collector and we have to fight it.  And a conversation with him talking trash about how he is so much better than me.  There is NO REASON why this shouldn't have been in the main campaign.  The game was incomplete and the poorer for it.

You didn't get enough trask talk in ME2? He's too busy reaping Earth. You already got the Rannoch Reaper for your villainous "resistance is futile" speech. Of course, whether you like that speech or not is subjective to you.

Discussion about whether or not you think he will return and why you have that stance.

Starting it by making up a fake statement. You should work at IGN.

More of a paraphrased statement.  Remember how they told us not to get too attached to a storyline and how they have other plans?  It sounds  a lot like they are saying no more Harbinger.

No I didn't.  In Arrival, they built him up as the main boss so a larger role was needed.

The Catalyst. Sadly it had all the cards and you were in no position to argue otherwise. I want to see Harbinger again because he amused me. I really don't care if he drops hints about the AI, it'd just be fun to duke it out with him one more time.

So you choose to mislead us and waste our time. I'd have never opened this thread if you had said what it was actually about.

BioWare, I suggest locking this thread. Guy's a deuche. I don't give a crap what your reasons were.

The Catalyst.

Good one. A little AI with some lines of dialogue that we meet the first time 10 minutes before the credits is not a main antagonist. We don´t fight it, all we have is some dialogue, but nevermind, that´s not the important part.

A main antagonist motivates you. It is the face of the enemy we you fighting all along. It is like Saren: He pisses you off at the beginning of ME1, and then you hunt him the whole game. Harbinger is more mysterious, but that works too, at least we have a name and learn some of the things it does and says.
Catalyst doesn´t work because we never heard of it. We never fought it, we never tried to stop it. It is non-existant to us until 10 minutes before the credits.

I guess Kai Leng was a failed attempt to create one of the Saren kind, but they screwed up on that. The only really good main antagonist in ME3 is Illusive Man, but his plot is secondary and resolved before the climax.

Unless you played Leviathan. Heh I guess this is another reason it should have been in the main game. Oh well.

If bioware involves harbinger it will be in an Omega DLC at best

It still won't change the beam run. Because if it did IT would break.

Be happy with TIM/Kai Leng

Yes I did, to draw people into this thread for discussion. Heh.

I see. Your actual argument wasn't good enough to draw people in? Well, at least you admit it

...

Where is there an argument in the OP?

Well they brought him back in the new Multiplayer DLC Trailer. Unless the Bioware team are trying to be dicks, we will see our friend Harbinger sometime in a future dlc. Again it would be a total waste of money and time on Bioware's part to bring in a voice actor to only record 2 or 3 lines for a trailer, and absolutely nothing for the game. Just the fact that they brought the VA back for a trailer only confirms that Bioware has a place for him in the near future.

The VA you are referring to, Keith Szarabajka, or whatever his name is, already voices other characters in ME3.

It doesn't matter. Either they brought him back recently to record the lines for the trailer, which they wouldn't if they didn't have him record more (meaning we'll see him in the future) or they had him record these lines in the past anticipating the use of Harbinger. I seriously doubt they planned to use him in one trailer and that was it.

Edit: Nice OP, glad to see you changed the title.

Ha. You're not wrong. A lot of people did hate Harby and a lot, if not all, of these same people are crawling at his... em... feet(?), me am one of them. Image IPB For some reason he's just become more badass. Maybe it's his appearance at the end of Arrival that did it? Maybe they just feel that something to represent the Reapers, the face of our enemy if you will, is better than the nothing we got? Or maybe it's simply because he was built up through out Mass 2 and the end of Arrival as the big bad and then just forgot about? For me it's a little of all three.

On topic: I've said this before, I can't believe BioWare would bring back Keith Szarabajka to voice one of the characters they know fans want to see just for a two minute trailer. It would be like saying to fans "Yeah, we had a great opportunity to give you somthing we know you would love but thought "Nah"".

I actually never knew that people hated Harbringer in ME2 so much.

I don't understand why. I enjoyed him. He was a "fun" villain.

I think it was more a case of him not living up to Sovereign than him not being a good villain. We only ever get to see him in a few short cut scene and have no real dialogue with him untill the end of Arrival. Sovereign on the other hand gets a badass confrontation on Virmire full of epicness and we get to face off against him (of sorts) end game. This, for some, made Harby feel like he was only just being introduced and never established. Which kind of left us in the boat we're in now; They introduced Harby and then built him up in Arrival, and for what?

Again the logic Bioware had to hype Harbinger up in ME2/ Arival DLC to be the main antagonist in ME3 and not have him say a single line or have any screentime in the final game in the trilogy is totally beyond me and anyone who knows anything about literature/ story structure. If Bioware adds in at least one conversation with him, it would make the overall story soo much better! Please Bioware don't be jerks to us and only use the main villain of a series in a 2 minute trailer, that's not even part of the game. All we want is one conversation/ confrontation with him.

It's actually a brilliant strategy on Bioware's part. Harbinger has gone from a hated villain to what could be the savior of the game. If they make a dlc that revolves around Harbinger people will be lining up to buy it.

He's dead. If he returns, there's no reason Shepard would not.

I honestly didn't know that people hated Harbinger, untill I visited the Bioware forums. When I first played ME 2, I thought that he was badass and couldn't wait to kick his **** in ME3.
