Forced to play as a human? Irritating, but not unsalvageable, as half-elves count as human. In this way, we could have a city elf or Dalish cultural background in some way and still not automatically get thrown out of whatever exalted position that only humans could occupy, thus removing some of the pain from Bioware's latest gutstab. I implore you to go after this possibility.

I actually suggested this (jokingly lol) in another thread!! But yes, that would thrill me lol Unfortunately, I think they've got the story part of the game mostly hammered out, so don't think they're taking origins suggestions. But still, nice idea.

It could work as a background.

Why do you think it will 'never happen?'

It's a good idea and not incompatible with what we know of their plans for the game. I don't know if they're actually going to do it, but they've almost certainly considered the idea. If not, they might decide this is a good enough idea that they can find some time to work on it.

I can't remember but did any half human dwarf ever make an appearance in the series?(No Sandal as he's speculated to be part elf)

As far as we know, they have not.

It would be a rare combination as dwarves have fertility problems and breeding with a human would even be harder.

Unfortunately I suspect it is the case that the Half-Elf would still face Full-Elf Consequences.

Feynriel realized that he passed easily in Kirkwall upon going to Sundermount.

Half Elves don't really seem to be a thing. I believe every pairing of a human and elf results in a human offspring?

Yes, that was kind of my point. We'd be human, hence eligible for the moronic racial requirement, but still able to have an elven background.

Well, maybe we'd have the option to have vaguely elven features. Slightly pointed ears, larger eyes, slenderer builds. But still the same height as humans so as not to make cinematics difficult. And the same voice as a human.

Fine, I just want the dialogue options. And if I can justify following the Creators through here, it'd come out the best.

It sounds like an interesting idea, Xil.

It is possible that one of the backgrounds BW gives us could be where we are half elf. I wouldn't be opposed to it. If I had to be a Human I would love to have some Dalish Culture/Blood if one of my Inquisitor's parents were a Dalish Elf

Agree, give me an alternative culture, in spite of my looks (I think half elves end up looking human).

Listen, I'm pretty sure Half Elves aren't a thing. They really aren't that great a race anyway; they lack both the bonus feat from humans and they aren't bonus for those broken Luck feats.

Yeah, but you can multi-class as a Half-Elf without experience penalties. All classes are favored classes for Half-Elves.

Yes.

Think of it as picking a Dalish warden instead of a city elf, or a low caste dwarf instead of a noble. They're the same race, but there could be serious cultural differences. A half-elf, for example, could have been born and raised in the alienage.

Yes, they are.
