Hi, first of all I want to say that no, I am not banned. This is an error that I have been seeing on and off for a few months now.
Some days, I start up ME3 and I can log in on the first go. Some days, I get this error on the first 2 or 3 attempts and then it works. Other days, I can start and quit a dozen times and it never lets me in.
So unless I am being banned and unbanned multiple times per day, it must be something else.
The only thing I can think of is my internet connection. I'm in Thailand so the internet here is not the best, I admit. However, I can use any other internet application just fine. Web pages load fine, Origin loads just fine, Steam loads fine, any other games I run are fine, everything works except for the "connecting to EA servers" bit.
Even ME3 multiplayer works fine, as long as I can get past the start up. Just today I was playing for a couple hours without any problem, but then I had to shut down. Loaded up again a few minutes later and I'm getting the dreaded online pass error again.
There's something going on in the "connecting to EA servers" phase that just doesn't work for me and I don't know what it is.
I have noticed a trend over the past few weeks and that is that when the internet is slow I have a much higher chance of getting this error, and while the internet is fast I usually get in without any trouble.
I'm watching my open ports in Comodo Firewall, and connections
are being made and data is transferring, so it's not a connectivity problem. I do notice that a lot of data is being transferred, though. Usually 600-700kb just to log in, which seems excessive to me. My best guess is that this transfer is taking a bit too long, something times out, and I get an error.
What exactly is going on here?
Redeem/purchase online pass error -- linked to connection speed somehow??
