Countering Dragoons

Then the Dragoons came. And out of a well honed reaction, I zap 'em with my Energy Drain, and they stoopd there, zapped and stunned for a while. That got me thinking, so every other Dragoon I saw got a taste of Energy Drain, leaving me free-and-clear to shoot them in the face.
If Energy Drain can stop 'em, I imagine that a Nerual Shock upgraded Overload would do WONDERS on them. Haven't gotten another Engineer back up yet to give it a try, but those who do, fry those blasted on-crack freaks, and see how effective it is against them. If I'm right, we'll have a perfect counter to those bloody Dragoons.

As for the Ammo/Weapon things, that's for killing them. I was talking about a non-lethal counter, one to stop them from attacking. Sure, killing them is good, but sometimes, you don't have the ammo or the time to aim and fire, a quick, instant hit power can do it, so long as they have the red frame.
...Not sure about the Vanguard part. Haven't Charged into any of late. I do know my Krogan charge isn't strong enough to stun them, half the time.

You can also use light melee to stun them as with most humanoids - though I've experienced inconsistent results here too.
(I'm still annoyed that Sabotage doesn't stun them.)

The other trick I would say is getting good at dodging their attacks. Side stepping their attacks once they do close is important.

Overload does work wonders on them. Especially when chain evolutions are chosen, of course, since they like to come in packs.
Chain overload is almost always good for what ails you.
Love the dragoons because they do make the Cerberus matches a bit more of a challenge.

While true, the BE will leave them with less than half their bars of armor intact as well, and nearby other dragoons suffer a similar fate. They also suffer a small knockback from the force of the explosion. Warp/Throw only takes about two and a half seconds to execute, and throw's recharge is so low that you can quickly do it again. So if they gang up on you, you can basically dispatch them in about 5 seconds.JumboWheat01 wrote...
I get the Biotic Explosion combos, but that's two cooldowns to get the effect, and that may simply be too long of a time, considering while you're priming the target and waiting for the cooldown, other Dragoons are on your arse.

They did not stand being punched.
Incinerate is also very effective.
Looking forward to pit my salarians against dragoons after reading this

Seems like it. I actually treat them exactly as I treat Pyros: keep an eye out for them, prioritize them before they get near, if I can stagger or knock them back, I will. It wouldn't amaze me if the two had the exact same AI either, just with different abilities specified for close range.JumboWheat01 wrote...
So it seems Dragoons have a weakness to Electrical damage then... Hmm...
Both always move forward towards you, neither ever seeks cover (unlike that other Cerberus melee unit, the Phantom).
Even the range where the Pyro starts his burner and the Dragoon starts charging is similar!
I probably spend more time aiming over potential targets (especially when they're mostly behind cover) to see what kind of healthbar they are than actually attacking them, a Dragoon simply won't get near if I can help it.

The N7 Shadow infiltrator is the ultimate dragoonkiller. Just spec her for melee, upgrade Tac-cloak to duration and to keep you hidden after one strike, then just cloak and shadowstrike (upgrade it with electric damage)...they go down instantly on gold ^^
I just happened to be doing exactly this earlier, after not playing my Shadow for a while. Dragoons were my little playthings.

I retrained my Shadow to take Fire Sword in Sword Mastery just because of the Dragoons. Previous to that I had gone with Shield damage to take out the phantoms. With the new Melee mod for shotguns with that setup I can take out either phantoms or Dragoons in one hit.
Dragoons are a real pain if they get into the hack zone. I have used missiles on occasion in order to eliminate them when the team is down. They stagger the hell out of you.
