Since we can't play as dwarf or elf (and I understand why and fully respect that decision) then my hope is that we will be able to determine body type in CC.

Is Frostbite locked like that in terms of modding?

It is just an assumption of mine. Since outside of minor hud improvements and aimbots I've never heard of mods from the games ran on Frostbite. Although there is a console in Battlefield, so with the console some things may be possible. But I wouldn't expect anything like DA:O had or even DA:2's small modding.

An option for muscle tones like chiseled pectorals, abs or a smooth figure that doesn't  effect body size to the point of creating clipping issues would add to the cc. Also the addition of a chest hair slider would be epic.

The engine has only really been used for shooters so I wouldn't get too sad about it now. Who is really modding a FPS's aesthetics?

So far we have been told we have to play a human. And that human is also deeply religious. So his race and personality is pretty much made up for you when you start.

Trolls are out, I see. FYI there's no proof of this statement, and your 'personality' is not made up for you. You also get origins.

Need for Speed: The Run was a game ran on the engine. Its modding was about as deep as Mass Effect's. (A save game editor and fan made textures with texmod). But yeah there really hasn't been any game worth modding on the engine, so it is up in the air; but I personally doubt there will be much modding potential/options like you saw in Origins and even Dragon Age 2.

I'm actually not much help in general since my CC skills tend to suck so I usually just use slight deviations from the presets lest I create some horrific monstrosity

But that'd add something to the game! Having characters like Quasimodo, or Orlok, or the Exorcist girl, or whoever.

Show us your Orlok, Allan.

Since we are stuck as playing as human I really hope the character creator is huge. I want full body tattoos and scars, two options that are almost never present in character creators.

"It’s going to be very difficult for people to mod the game, because of the nature of the set up of levels, of the destruction and all those things… it’s quite tricky. So we think it’s going to be too big of a challenge for people to make a mod."

Has this guy not heard of Neverwinter Nights 2?

In a CC, I'd really love freckles, moles, scars, burns, and a greater variety of tattoos (especially non-symmetrical tats). I know tons of people have asked for greater variety of hairstyles, but I'll add my voice to that - especially more styles of ponytails and updos, and some nice short styles for women like pixie cuts and bobs. Also, it's quite unbelievable that male characters have a plaited hair style, but female characters don't. Heck, if all hairstyles were available to both genders, I'd be a happy panda. And I agree with those who ask for better lighting in order to see eye colour.

What would be really nice would be if each hairstyle had a 'base' form, to which you could add braids, bangs, beads, etc. But that's probably wishful thinking.

As for those people who think the PC is going to be forced to be religious... I always interpreted DGs comments as saying that atheism, as an organized belief system with actual tenents and texts (as it exists in our world) does not exist in Thedas, but that doesn't mean that characters all believe in a higher power. Doubt and lack of faith are entirely possible characterization choices, it is simply that Thedas has no word for 'atheism' because atheism, as an organized belief system, doesn't exist as we know it in our world. Thedosian culture is driven by the cult of Andraste, and society is deeply bound to the tenents of that faith, but lack of belief is entirely possible on an individual by individual basis. You just wouldn't call it atheism.

Clearly, you're not a STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl fan.  One is spoiled for mod choices with the STALKER games.

Back on topic, though. More variety = a welcome thing. It'd be lovely to customize even just the face using the variety of ways possible in, say, Saints Row 2 and the Third. But I don't know what possible limits, if any, there might be for character customization in the Frostbite 2 engine. I've not played the other games that use it, so I can't comment on how the characters look in them--or even if that's relevant to a DAIII discussion.

Ugh, the facial hair in DA2 at least was atrocious.  The stubble's ok, but it's hard to f--- up stubble.

Dragon's Dogma has probally the best CC I've seen. It needs to be on a slider so the end result still looks human (look at Oblivion for the perfect example of what not to do). Since there's only 1 race (sighhhhhhh) there's no excuse for there not to be a lot of diversity for the human player character.

I didn't mind the CC in DA & DA2... and being a console player I don't get to mod things much.

I'd really just want to see nice, curly hair in the vanilla CC.:innocent:

I spend awhile in the CC. Really I just find it relaxing and kinda fun.

I, too, would like to be able to have some nice curly hair options. Scars and piercings would be great, too.

Though TBH I've seen much worse come out of that game.  Skyrim was better, but still took some modding to make it really work well.

This wasn't confiemed in the slightest. They only said that the PC is Andrastian, which doesn't mean he has to be deeply religious, I'm Catholic and I'm not deeply religious or fond of my faith's ierarchy.

Wait, when did they say the PC was Andrastian?  I missed that.
