I'm new to this thread, so all I can contribue with is: But, I liked The origins theme in DA:O.
According to a statement back in the days, they are looking into bringing back different backgrounds again, but very likely not in a playable form. So it's a wait and see how this will emerge in the final product. Maybe it's just a list of 3 or more written backgrounds with near zero references during the game or they actually make noticable differences in your gaming experience.
Well, considering the Thread's title speaks for itself, I realy doubt
I'll get to be an Elf in the Alienage again or anything of the sort.
That makes me sad.

That confirms it, then. Bioware is racist and non-inclusive.

Actually their order has strict rules against political positions. The Anderfels and Amaranthine are the exception, not the rule.Dark Korsar wrote...
1)and Grey Wardens still control Anderfels, and have political influence in all Thedas
I meant Grand Enchanter, but the point stands. They hold those positions because Mage trumps Elf in the circle.2)You forgot First Enchanter Orcino, Senior Enchanter Leorah(if she survived)it is more likely that she could be next First Enchanter after old Irving),...and Ambassador Cera .had influence in Amarantine
Half elves are human and Danarius isn't one, I'm not sure where you got that. Fenris' sister was an apprentice, I have yet to see any elf Magisters in power and you're going to need to provide these "mentions" for proof.2)the elf magisters are mention, and we have seen half-elf magister Danarius(and Fenris sister, who was his student and future magister).and we know about the half-elf Feynriel
Humans aren't beyond employing elves in their infantry. That doesn't mean their willing to make them general.3)Antiva still not that small piece of land.......about their Masters and Guildmaster, we do not know anything about it.....but if they take the elves and Zevran is an Crown elite assassin, then someone of the elves can be Crown master
...point?4)at least they have it in Ferelden and Rivain...Well Zatrian clan was quite a big to help in the war...Orzammar was small too in the game.
So what? We will still don't know why those things or allowed or the circumstances. We don't know.still quite enough about the Templar..
..and the fact that if we are Inquisitor we are not affiliated with the Chantry and do not have to believe in a Maker, and can be a mage

Actually we're getting backstory options in this one. So customability has actually gone up from DA2RaidenXS wrote...
I am extremely disappointed. I wanted to be able to be a elf after my original run in DA1. I couldn't do it in DA1 becasue i felt like I created my own canon with my original human warrior warden. I couldn't do it in DA2 but i was like, "I'll try the Mage out now I guess." But what I really wanted to do was make a female elf clad in massive armor to cut down the shems! gues i have to wait some more. I really don't want to be another warrior.
I feel like we are losing customability as these games go on.

If people only want to play as humans fine, But please do not take the choice away from those who want to play other things.
Edit: Sorry, I did not realise this post was so old, however, people get angry if you make new ones when posts already exist, So... I have little choice really.

DAO did not make things very different for each race. In fact some parts of the story is implausible if you are not human. Like the part were you dress up as a guard when you rescue Anora.
All armors in game world are magically fit the body of the wearer...they can change shape, don't worry...it is something generally accepted...male heavy metal plate armor will suddenly changed to heavy metal plate boob armor if women wear it...

The point being made isn't magically fitting armours, but that you can be mistaken for a Denerim guard while, for instance, being an elf arboring Dalish tatoos. No one ever calls you on that during that quest, not even a little, which, considering you're in Howe's palace, makes little sense.Qistina wrote...

It can be justified in many ways...new recruits from other races, mercenaries and so on...
That is why we are told not to talk or get near the guards, just pretend like nothing happen, just move along...
We get near the guards then they will attack, no matter what race you are
Note : Howe did hire Qunari and Elf mercenaries to hunt Grey Wardens, remember the Pearl? Howe also hire Elven assassin, Zevran...so it is not a suprise if other race being in How castle, just don't get near the guard or they will realize something is wrong

I think we're really late to the party on this, but if removing origins and races can instead extend the length of the overall campaign and provide more choices and content for all of us, I consider that a fair enough choice.
The two are not linked. If anything, removal of alternative races and origins appears to be counterproductive to extending the length of the overall campaign and providing more choices and content.
