Last I saw, Origins had still sold more than ME2. By a decent number. I don't know about 3 though. And I think all of that was without factoring digital sales.

ME3 sold 3.5 million just a week from release. Probably safe to say, it easily surpassed DAO.

Not necessarily.  There were massive returns, it wasn't available on Steam and the negative word of mouth definitely decreased the shelf life.

Can you not read? It says sold and not shipped. Doesn't matter how you spin it, that's 3.5 million copies sold for both Bioware/EA. Regardless if you want to believe a bunch of loud gamers on a forum wanted to return their copies. Bioware/EA still got that pie.

According to VG Chartz, ME3 sold in total 4.10 millions for now, while DAO sold 4.25 millions. I don't know or care if ME3 sold less copies than Myzuka said, if ME3 sold under a million copies after the first week (which I doubt, even considering the backlash), or if the VG Chartz is innacurate (which I recall it was in the past). If ME3 is their best commercial success (which it'll be anyway thanks to MP), good for them.

Fine, so it's irrelevant that a 3 year old game is being sold for the same price as an 8 month old game?

Of course it is. The pricing changed because EA said so. I don't see why you should be paranoid about this.

The Archdemon isn't a literal god. The creatures aren't literal gods. Morrigan disputes the idea that magic necessitates the need for intelligent design in her argument with Leliana. If The Warden doesn't believe in any gods or higher power, it does make him an atheist.

The statements you quote refer to the maker not any gods.

You want to tell me how exactly my reading comprehension failed me with jerry's comment? ^_^

He was making a humorous statement, not actually suggesting that we start speculating on/requesting features for DA4.

Its a bummer, but its an understandable bummer. Most people play as a human, playing as an elf or dwarf doesn't make much difference, but it does pose logistical problems, perticularly with a voiced protagonist. On the whole, I wish it weren't so, but its not the end of the world.

So, about the lack of races, and the back grounds? Anyone?

While we don't have much to go on at this moment, I could see how this story might work best if limited to a human. It would be hard to swallow an elf rising so high in status in the human church, same with a dwarf.

We've got atheism and Bioware sales figures going on in this thread, and both are totally off topic. I helped start it, and I'm trying to end it before the thread gets locked (again!). Bioware created this thread specifically for people to talk about a human only protag, and I'd like to keep it for them. Let us rage somewhere else.

As of to date Origins is still Bioware's greatest game with 4.5 milion sold within a year, followed by ME2 with 4.2 million on both PS3 and XBOX.  DA2 never broke the 2 million mark, I think I remember them being around 1.7 after a year (which isn't bad, just not Origins great)

There's no actual reliable evidence of those figures.

I'm not sure why any of this is relevant to playing as humans...lol

No it isn't.  The price of a AAA deteriorating that quickly is not a good sign. Skyrim has only fallen to $50 and it is 4 months older.

It's not paranoia, I'm just noting that the demand for ME3 has decreased significantly in a short period of time, as evidenced by the low prices.

As UpsettingShorts has pointed out, the only way multiple races is limited by protagonist VO is if they keep each race having a diffrent accent.  And they've proven they are willing to retcon in that area.  So I wouldn't give up hope

Given that DA:O's development idea was to make a "spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate," their previously most successful game, I'd say... no.

You misunderstand what I mean.  I mean they've literally been coming to the boards and saying, "This is our decision, we can respect that some people don't like it and understand if this means a no-purchase" for months now.  Which is what you said they'd have to do for you to accept that.

No, I said they would have to go about teaching people a playstyle they don't come by naturally. That would involve teaching it, for one, and require selling it (not the game, but the concept itself) to the fans.

They are, instead, coming on and doing what I said they shouldn't do... "here is a feature, we are doing it, if you don't like it, feel free to go elsewhere."

And, to be fair, many devs have come on and defended their design choices. But defending is not selling. You defend something in court, where you point and counter-point an oppoenent to get a judge and jury to see your opinion. You SELL something by pointing out a need, showing how your product fills that need and show how it is more valuable than the alternatives the purchaser has. That is NOT being done with any design choice.

Not laying blame anywhere or saying people aren't doing their jobs (since, obviously, the devs commenting are going above and beyond their duties just even being on these boards), but no one was ever sold on an idea by debating it. I wouldn't trust EA's marketing team to come near any game of mine with a 39 and 1/2 foot long pole with their juvenile, ineffective and sophmoric attempts, but having someone with sales experience (and not marketing) addressing the fans may be a better route. Companies forget all too often they sell ideas just as often as they sell products, there just isn't a crystal clear sticker price.

I liked playing an elf much better in Origins but eh. If the rest of the game is stellar, I won't mind.

Fact is not a matter of opinion.  I learned that in philosophy class.

And it's a FACT that I want to play as an elf, and played as an elf in all three of my DAO playthroughs, so I'm very annoyed by Bioware's decision to ignore what I want in the Dragon Age franchise.

Boom!  Staying on topic.

Let's assume I know my Warden better than you do, and since I'm not the only person who chose those dialogue choices with the same intent, I really don't see any point to the continuance of this conversation.

Getting back on topic, I would have preferred to see the Origins return to Inquisition. We were already limited to playing as a human with Hawke; I don't see the need to repeat this with the next Dragon Age game.

Sorry I love that tune.

Seriously. Why are we limited to humans?

I want to play as Elves, Dwaves, Qunari and brand new races.
