Hmm maybe IF he did die, Justice, moved to Hawke as his new host.. and in DA3 we get a Hawke/Justice/Anders cross... akward if you romanced him lol

Don't think Justice would possess Hawke, seems to not like you anyway.

Which, fine by me,

Not liking Hawke would give it a good reason to posses Hawke lol his idea of Justice Posted Image

The fact is that if Hawke didn't agree on the possession thing, Justice has to fight him to enter. And if it fights Hawke, it'll be dead (at least if it fights my Hawke).

Also, if you romance Anders (I'm assuming you didn't), Anders lets you know that Justice doesn't like you, because your irresistible sexiness is a distraction from the bat-**** insanity Justice was to get on with.

And, if you think about it....if you finally reject him in Act 3.....(by telling him to shut up about Fenris or Merrill, or staying with Izzy).....

SEXUAL FRUSTRATION WAS THE MOTIVATION!!! :P (I should have put out more.....<_<)

I made only one playthrough, as male Hawke, and I generally romance females with my male characters. Though I remembered something about Justice that doesn't like you. I hope that it doesn't like me even if I don't romance Anders, because my Hawke will share the same sentiment about Vengeance.

I've wondered if he is alive if you Rivalry him & side with the templars. I romanced him in that playthrough and Varric didn't say the "...all except Anders" line at the end indicating he was with me.

Is this confirmed anywhere that he kills himself/dies in this ending?

He apparently suggests in-game that he will commit suicide after the end of the battle, if you convince him to fight with you, which openly happens under certain conditions within 100% rivarly. Otherwise, you can knife him (problem solved) or you have to kill him in battle.

Maybe he just follows through with suicide? Also, I don't see an Anders sticking around with pro-Templar Hawke anyway.

My worry is trying to import a friend/rivalry dependent character (Anders beign alive/ dead/ with the Champion based on your relationship with him, because of those "strings"

I dunno, because I almost always friendmance him, and the one time I didn't, I knifed him in the back after siding with the Templars.

I just finished my pro-templar/rivalmance Anders playthrough less than three weeks ago, and I remember him not necessarily hinting at suicide - just vaguely insinuating that he didn't think he could fight off Justice forever and that should he fall in battle or (ambiguous & somewhat ominous wording) later he will always wuv you blahblahblah.

I just don't want to import this save and be surprised by him being dead.  If he is he is, but I wish it was more apparent than a skipped line by Varric in the already notoriously buggy ending narration.

If Justice or Vengeance returns, I will kill him. I don't care if I have to rewrite the entire goddamn game to do sol, He is so dead.

Anyways, If Anders returns, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, Give us the Sarcastic Witty guy from Awakening back. Please!

I HATED Anders in DAII and I feel like even the developers KNEW people would hate him.

They probably did.  And the fact that you did hate him is what makes him a great character.

I wanted witty, funny, fun-loving Anders back too -- his transformation made me sad, and upset, but the truth is that his transformation also makes complete and total sense.  He WAS angry at the Chantry and the institution of the Circle even in Awakenings, and being inhabited by a spirit of Justice had to have exacerbated his already-heightened sense of unfairness at the entire situation.  Sometimes, even in a good story, bad things happen to characters that you like.  DA2 made us acutely aware that we can't always control what happens, and that we can't always steer our companions to do or be what we want them to, and that things still go bad despite our best intentions.  That feeling of helplessness wasn't pleasant, but I thought it was one of the triumphs of the storytelling in DA2.  Deciding whether to kill Anders or not was certainly one of the hardest decisions I've made in either Dragon Age game or any of the expansions, and one of the most morally difficult.

+1. Hated it, sighed, got over it.
And yes, killing him was really, really hard to do for me too, I felt so bad after knifing the poor guy. :crying:
The most annoying part was that reading the codices for the characters and what they had been up to made it 10X harder

I know people kill Anders more out of mercy for his sanity because Vengeance may eventually take over. I still find it hard to do. :crying:

I'll gladly kill it. Possibly in the Fade, so that it'll not come again to mess up people's heads.

It didn't mess up Anders head. Anders head messed up Justice.

Justice is basically the victim in all of this.

And yet he died in Awakening, and still showed up in DA2. Same goes for Leliana.

They acknowledged that. Same with Zevran. But they weren't really sure where they were going after DAO so I could let that slide.

Now since they know where they are going forward I doubt we'll see anymore zombies.

Anders' death(assuming the PC kills him) in DA2 has been specifically addressed.

http://social.biowar.../index/14261303

Mary Kirby posts in this thread confirming it.

The thread also addresses other common questions about "who is really dead now" based on dev posts that I was presented with or able to locate.

I would actually think the whole "evil taint blood" in his body would have something to do with the demon warping.

And if you played Awakening (and kept zombie Kristoff around), Justice was already starting to show what you could call "demonly" attributes (liking the mortal world, feeling envy about Kristoff and his wife's relationship, etc) and acknowledging it. And your Warden could be all like, "it's cool brah."

so.....
ITS MY WARDEN'S FAULT!!!! :crying:

I loved Anders. Loved. Loved. Loved. Romanced him 8 out of 10 playthroughs. Killed him twice. But that was due to me siding with the Templars and letting him go. Not through the murder knife. Anyhow, I know he probably won't come back...but if we let him live, I kinda want to at least hear something from him in DA3. A Journal. A Codex. Something to know what he's up to.

I'd be interested to see if they do what ME3 did with dead character replacement.

*Spoiler*

Same kind of story trend but things were different with Padok Wiks than Mordin. Kirrahe or Thane. Tali or Raan. etc. If he's alive then you've got him running some **** mage rebellion group. If not then maybe a mage you had some sympathy on comes back to take that role or Bethany, etc.
