It's been stated that DA isn't planned as a trilogy. Anyone else wonder what exactly it is planned as? It doesn't seem like there's a continual story arc running through the series, considering how disconnected origins and 2 were. It seems like Bioware are setting up a world, and then telling seperate stories in it. If DA 3 wraps up the "mages vs. templars" plotline, what will come next? A qunari invasion? Another Blight? More importantly, do they have a definite ending in mind for the series, or will they just stop once they run out of ideas/money? What do you think the long-term future of the franchise will be?

How is DA3 supposed to wrap up the mages vs. templar storyline? The templars are necessary and yet their very existence results in a form of fascism which will continue to create problems.

Unless DA3 offers us some way to strengthen the veil (unlikely) or ban magic from the world outright (I'd like to say unlikely, but with the new Bioware writing I just don't know) the mage vs templar dance can never end.

I figure they will keep making them as long as they can make a profit on them. I doubt they have a definite ending in mind for the series because there is so much they could still do.

They really have a lot of story for a few games and I really hope they do a lot more I don't want DA to stop.

That all depends on how much creativity Gaider can keep dishing out.The second gaider is no longer the lead writer is the second dragon age is dead to me.

Eight.

Then they'll move to the next Age.

It'll likely be a tent pole for as long as BioWare remains a company. Mass Effect's future is a little more murky at the moment. I have no idea what's coming up there and if I even care where they go past ME3.

But BioWare made a good choice when they said the DA Universe isn't about one person or one problem. It's about the setting. And that means it can continue on and on and on until BioWare dies or the sales plummet as fans are no longer interested in the setting.

But in theory in a perfect world I could see the series going to DA10. It'll be a very different game and setting by then, of course...

I'd worry about DA3 for the time being.

It'll depend on how DA3 performs, I expect.

DA3: Mage Templar conflict. >> Imminent Qunari invasion

DA4: All four races playable (including Kossith, but we'll probably not be Qunari). OR, Human again and we try to stop the Qunari invasion, Tevinter will be involved. >> Darkspawn activity.

DA5: All four races playable, Grey Warden & Darkspawn focus.

 DA6: ??

As long as the franchise will sell and they still have good ideas for it.

I see at least 1 more after this. I'd like to see one focusing on the tevinters vs the qunari

It will be like Final Fantasy; where it will go on for a long time, only it will actually be connected and have an over-arching storyline for various ages after the Dragon Age ends.

Eight.

Then they'll move to the next Age.

Every game afterwards should just involve drunken escapades in the Hanged Man. We can call it Flagon Age.

In a perfect world, Forever! Realistically Bioware hasn't sustained any series for more than a couple games and I have a feeling it'll be done with in the next game or two.
