I felt that, with the exception of the rogue champion armor, the light armors in DA2 were pretty lame. Only a few had hoods and they were all much too bright; they came in green, red, etc, rather than grey, black, dark blue, and other acceptable ninja fashion choices. It would be nice to have something like this:

or the guy from thief:

or this from Oblivion:

Something dark and practical for sneaking, preferably with a hood. The rogue armors from the first two games looked like "light armors", rather than "rogue armors". It would be nice to have something more tailored to the class.

How about lighter armors designed mostly to stop piercing missiles? It would compliment your archer character.

The color schemes left much to be desired, true. Personally, I was happy to see rogue (and mage) armors with more variety than a single, re-colored version of the same piece over and over. Also that the female versions no longer had a low cut, sweetheart neckline.

I'm all for armor designs that actually look like they're functional armor.

given that rogues also seduce, and distract, a low cut armour wouldn`t be entirely out of place either.

Black hooded armor is always nice for a rogue, especially hoods that hide the face. If rogues in Dragon Age are to act like ninjas in combat, at least give them attire to help them look the part.

The Enasalin armor set was nice, though it would have been better in black and with a face mask, similar to what many of the Coterie rogues wear.

A fair point, but my issue was largely with how the design changed between male and female characters. The same leather chest armor that showed off my female rogues' decolletage went all the way to the neck on male rogues. I'd rather see armor that's functional and doesn't change overmuch between genders.

If there was an option for outfits that were clearly designed for more social purposes than combat purposes, that'd be fine. Hence my preference for the rogue armors in DA2.

I don`t really remember the rogue armours in DA2. But i remember my two rogue companions. Both of them exposed their chest, and wore no armour hehe.

I agree with this very strongly. I really liked the first image you posted. Studded leather cowls, coming down to the eyes in a V would be good.

Also, sorry if this is off topic, but mage hats are another issue. We need broad hoods for mages made of thick fabric, using a dark colour pallete (black, red and for contrast, gold) or white, and coming down at the front, partially covering the face, like Kreia in KOTOR 2. They shouldn't be colourful to the point of being gaudy, or shaped liked Lawrence of Arabia headscarves, like in DA2.

I would say that the mage and rogue clothing for important NPCs in DA2 was much better looking in general than what was available for Hawke. Really though, Hawke should have had the best clothing options.

Yeah dragon age could certainly do better in the rogue armor department. I totally agree that rogues need armor with hoods and dark colors. However this does not just apply to rogues. Warrior armor needs to be upgraded too. It needs to be less anime and more game of thrones.

I actually really liked the rogue armors in DAII - they weren't even bad in DA:O (with the exception of the Dalish rugby-player-sexy-Halloween-costume), but you could see a marked improvement with DAII.

I don't think there's really even a need to request more/better rogue armors for DAIII, since the trend has already been that they get better every time.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like the Nightingale armor from Skyrim.  I fell in love with that armor...

Yes.  And they weren't all some horrible purply-brown color.  Ugh.

That being said, I thought the Rogue Champion armor was HIDEOUS.  It looked like you had a sweatshirt tied around your waist.  Mage was MUCH better.

The Guild Master's Armor looks pretty decent for a rogue character.

Since it seems Orlais may play a big part in DA III I would love a more duelist-themed rogue armor.

lol, I have this love hatred thing for hoods. I like them on rogues, but in video games I think they look dumb when the hem doesn't hug the face, because then the player character looks bald.

DON'T LAUGH AT ME ISH. ;-;

Having said that, the only rogue armor I actually liked in DA2 was the DLC Rogue Pack II armor. >>

If I had to say which class got the best in game armors, I think it was warriors. Mages and rogues though... urg... I totally went for mods and DLC armors. I just didn't find the in game stuff flattering. XD

Oblivion armor looks terrible. Sure the Garret is ok, and i agree that everything for rogue was mostly crap (i think Champion's armor, that pirate coat from act 2 and the armor from Mark of the Assassin are good) - remember you are not be just a thief, you will be rogue! That doesn't mean you had to wear cowl all the time or the armor had to have dark colors. Look at the rogues from Diablo, they look more like amazons or rangers, which is also fine by me.

And i definitely don't want the light armors that were in Origins, because those were just awful, like a *last night before release work*.

I disliked the champion rogue armour. Like most of the champion sets it tries to hard to look epic, and it succeeds less that the others do too.

But in more general terms, there's a place for your dark shadowy style armour. But I don't think it should be all that's available - dashing swashbuckler is my preferred type of rogue, and that requires an outfit with more élan.

More pastels would be very nice, even a soothing beige would be lovely.

I do like playing a rakish rogue as well as a shadowy one.  Hopefully there'll be a style of armor for every type of rogue. :)

So much this. For me, remove the cape and it's one of the best pieces of armor for pretty much anything in any game.

Most assassin types historically didn't wear black armours with hoods. It's all about blending in and getting to the right spot. In fact, in many cultures, black would make you stand out like a sore thumb. The reason we use black for our rogues, is probably because that's the way they were depicted in Japanese theatre, but that was only because that best depicted their "invisibility" in that medium. And that was just because they used people in black to make background objects move (i.e. these were the people you shouldn't be paying attention to).

That said, I do like darker/black armours, but it's hardly more "rogue"-like.

Thats a good idea too. The DA2 and DAO rogue armors were far too homogeneous; many were just reskins in even more garish colors. There should be a variety of styles that fit the different rogue archetypes: shadowy assassin, swashbuckler, archer, etc. In DAO in perticular, warriors got a bunch of different heavy armor skins while all the rogue light armors were very samey. Mages had it even worse, but thats justifiable since they get the cool spell effects to make up for it. Rogues should recieve equal treatment to warriors.
