It wasn't any sort of ridiculous speedrun or anything, just a bunch of people in the thread who replied and joined up for 2 games. The players were:

dasriboflavin (USA, host) - Drell Vanguard
Jay_Hoxtatron (France) - Drell Adept
Lord_Sirian (Australia) - Drell Adept
me (Australia) - Drell Vanguard

1. Collectors on Goddess
Went alright until Wave 10 hack circle, that took away pretty much all of our resources. Wiped on extraction lol.


2. Cerberus on Reactor

Pretty smooth game. Enojy my noob moves where I stand next to grenades and get instantly downed after charging phantoms for no particular reason. Jay Hoxtatron almost misses out on 20 headshots, gets it in the nick of time.

No surprises that the 2 Adepts came out on top, it was kind of annoying finding human-sized enemies to kill because lolPlatinum. Not necessarily because it's Sirian and Jay stealing kills - I played the Drellguard with Sirian and Stentron on Gold a couple of days ago and had no problem finding good action. Just in Platinum it's Atlas, Banshee, Prime... no, I want to find phantoms, pyros, marauders etc. But i suppose you take what you can get - the best way to do it on platinum is to setup and detonate tech bursts/fire explosions, which of course can be done with many other classes. The Drell Vanguard is unique, however trivially that may be, in that his method of detonation also regens his shields and recharges faster than most of the other vanguards due to his higher weight capacity.

If any Drell Vanguard masters out there have any nitpicks regarding my gameplay, be sure to let me know, I would appreciate any tips.

Ahh, the Drell. Drell adept was the first character I unlocked back in the day and is a favorite of mine still. The drell are awesome.

They are quite squishy, but the trick is to zoom around the map as fast as possible and do ninja flips often. Doesn't always work, but at least you look stylish doing it.

Me, I like the melees. And flipping while doing melees.

You may have seen me do it, but occasionally I went roundhousing banshees and atlases.

Yeah I saw that, you guys were very mobile. My typical approach to a Goddess gold/plat game is to try to hold the room on the far right of the LZ with the ammo box and reposition if things get too hot.

Impressive feat , I have trouble with squishy characters and I just struggle with the drell and the ex cerb vanguard. Maybe the gameplay style is too intense for me!

Well, you should have seen what it was like before the patch...

 

Lots of flying in the air I imagine.

It wasn't too bad once you discovered that the vanguard glitch is acutally made worse by taking cover. Still, playing the rest of the game as a Drellguard without ever taking cover... yeah.

This is another character that I'd really like to look at some time. Not really the greatest character, but imo still usable.

Could have done Shotguns. Occasionally on gold you may see me taking a katana or disciple drellguard, though I do very little shooting and more melees.

To be fair, I think if any of us hosted, at least one person would have a lil' latency going on. Me and my mediocre American internet.

It's ok. Your connection wasn't nearly as bad as some hosts I've played with (mainly PUGs). I can't host 4 player, Jay can't host at all and d_nought's internet probably isn't as good as yours. So you were the only real choice for host. There was always going to be someone lagging.

But I get lag in basically every game unless I'm playing with someone from Aus.

As it should be then, I guess. Luckily Drelldept is still pretty solid even with latency just because of the spread of CG's and Reave. I'm just hoping this gets the kind of emulation that the Typhoon vid you guys did will receive. If not...then there's always more chances for me to make Drell vids.

I can't speak for Jay, but when I played with d_nought hosting I had a decent connection, considering it was to ****ing Aussieland.

Really cool to see someone playing DrellGuard the way I do, it is such a good class, epitome of high risk, high reward.

Saying that - I'm surprised it worked at all on those maps, not many grenades available - it can kind of dilute your team effectiveness.

Also I tend to try and throw grenades onto the floor underneath Atlases rather than directly at them, I think with the shrapnel upgrade it can do a bit more damage; maybe it doesn't but that's just my take.
