Like DAO and DA2, will the level cap again be the low to mid-twenties?

But seeing as the game is "said" to be 4times larger then before, and that we focus on 1 specialization (Like blood mage only or spirit healer only). Should we expect to see a much higher cap maybe around the 40s maybe in up to 50? And more in depth skill trees?

What would you prefer to see?

Considering that "level" is such a in-game specific descriptor, it's meaningless to try to make guesses about that.

For example, in Dungeons & Dragons 3.5, a level 20 character is quite literally able to fight gods on even ground. Whereas in D&D 4, that is at level 30.

"Level" is an in-game descriptor. There's no point of reference or comparison there. Some games (like, say, Pokemon) have levels that reach 100. In other games, the levels only reach 10. That doesn't mean they're less or more powerful, just that the word "level" means something different.

It's possible that the level cap will be 5, but those 5 levels represent huge increases in power (or something similar). Or that the level cap will be 1000, and you can gain multiple (largely meaningless) levels in a single fight.

I prefer high level caps with lots of stat and skill tweaking along the way, that eventually add up to very diverse builds. However only having a few level ups with very significant choices functionally accomplishes the same thing. I just prefer the flow of the former to that of the latter.

I don't see any need to go high. Adding more levels usually means some of them are basically going to be filler with nothing but stat pumping going on.

DA2's actual hard cap was at 50, though there was no likelyhood of going anywhere near it.

I like a lot of levels if it is done right. By that I mean that ME1 or ME3 type things. But I want to be able to reach the top level in one playthrough but if done right I can deal with multiple playthroughs with one character. I play multiple playthroughs but I don't like to play with the same character again

Whatever works for the game. Honestly, it's so dependent on the game design, playstyle (quick critical path vs. full exploration and sidequests), stat, skill and talent choices, specialisations, item enhancement and replacement curve, party customisation... it's literally impossible to identify, out of context, whether it's better to have closer to 20 or 50.

But in the true spirit of the BSN... I WANT 246 LEVELS AND THEY SHOULD ALL BE FILLED WITH AWSOME.

Or something like that anyway :)

Having level 9999 as a cap like Disgaea would be op.

<shrugs> It should be while Diablo 3's vanilla level cap was 60 iirc, but Disgaea's creator Nippon Ichi is in love with the word overkill.

Phantom Brave, Mugen Souls and some other games are level 9999 too, but like Disgaea, you can reincarnate back to level 1. As much as I'd want a Dragon Age with infinite gameplay, I don't this this will happen...

You could get to level 50 before patches and title updates. If the attribute/talent distribtion is done right then I don't really mind what the cap level is, in the end it's only a number.

How about just 10? But each level up gives a lot of attributes and lot of talent perks to spend

Each level up give 10 attribute points, and 5 talent points

You're joking.

Edit: Note the lack of a question mark.

I hope they have no level cap but the experience required to level up jumps by an enormous amount once past a certain point. Like it would take 1000 xp to go from 19 - 20, then it would take 10,000 xp to go from 20 - 21, 20,000 xp to go from 21 - 22 and so on. The dedicated would be able to get a few levels over the "cap" and it would make it feel like your characters still progressing when you play the game while not being underpowered as all the highest level stuff would be balanced around the "cap".

The level cap itself doesn't matter to me to much, as long as I feel that my character feels complete, even if that means that I didn't acquire every talent.

The only thing that I don't want is to reach the level cap while there's still content left to play.  With Origins, I'd reach the level cap around 90% through Awakening and would have a maxed out character during Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt.  Even if I know that my character won't be gaining any more levels, I still like to get the xp message after my character does something.  That said, I didn't mind the lv 50 cap in DA2, even though I've never had a character go beyond lv 30.  I'd rather have an un-reachable level cap than have a maxed out character with a good amount of the game left to complete.

i never felt like level cap was a huge issue. mostly b/c i very rarely reached it. (i didn't ALWAYS rescue kittens from trees just b/c i could.)

besides, when i made careful selections with my pc's, then they could usually do everything i needed/wanted them to be able to before they even reached it.

It depends on how much they want to have a single level effect the player and how long the game will be. I imagine it will not be a low level game as the concept they create games with today is that players get bored and frustrated if they are not quickly gaining levels and gear.

I find vertical progression to get a bit DBZish with the power creep. I'm a fan of systems such as earning skillpoints to unlock skills/traits, and only being able to equip a certain number of skills at a time for the sake of balance.
