Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in Mass Effect 1 (unlike in Mass Effect 3), you don't have a choice of letting Liara merge with your mind to help decipher the beacon message. I suppose if they wanted to, they could say she impregnated herself then, and then had the baby in secret sometime while Shepard was "dead" between Mass Effect 1 and 2. I don't think they would go through so much trouble to make a new game where all your decisions from mass effect 1-3 would result in a Shepard child of one sort or another. However, if they were planning to have some sort of nod to Shepard in sequels by making a child having been born, they could use your 1-3 characters to determine who and what the kid would be (i.e. miracle child with Miranda discovered after me3, Ashley.) However, this would only work with Male Shep, while the female shep or no romance or gay shep would have to default to the above scenario with Liara. At any rate, I believe Liara will have some significance in future games as she is one of the only Characters in all three games which cannot be killed off (Plus she's only completed 10% of her expected life so she could be in another thousand years of sequels).

- Sequel (500 years or so after ME3 events).
- ME3 save import feature.
- ME3 events reconstruction feature (interactive comic for those, who have no ME3 save).
- True sci-fi, deep, and instructive story built around difficult moral choices.
- Unique and impressive game's atmosphere.
- Best electronic music ever.
- Top-end game engine.
- Even more realistic and beautiful environments, characters, and dialogue scenes.
- It should be trilogy (each part should have save import feature, just like diferent parts of Mass Effect).
- It should be RPG with advanced cover-shooter combat system (just like in ME3).

- Matriarch Liara as a captain of reconstricted/modified Destiny Ascension, and main good NPC for the entire trilogy.
- Matriarch Liara uses captain position as a cover, because she is still the Shadow Broker.
- Destiny Ascension as a new "Normandy" for all three parts of the entire trilogy.
- Shepard's Asari doughter as one of the possible protagonists (locked for players without proper ME3 save).
- Environment and background described here.
- Possible name of the new trilogy: Mass Shift.
- Implemented Dark Energy plot.

I don't think we are going to see any Mass Effect game in the near future, that references shepard. It would require yet another save import, because of the various outcomes of your decisions... and well, after ME3's endings, i'd say near impossible, because shepard can die.

Please no! I might be able to stomach a Shepard child if he/she was a NPC(NOT A COMPANION).

But as the main character? Leave that option for the bad roleplayers.

I would rather wash my mouth with sewer water than play as an Asari daughter of Commander Shepard

I didn't, that's my point. Well I did in ME1 but only because Ashley was.... well vaporized.

Miranda all the way

What about those Shepard's who never romanced anybody?

For that matter, FemShep wouldn't be fertile for reproduction (after Lazarus, I mean), would she?

it would be kind of awesome to have little Shepards out there continuing the tradition of ass kicking but I just don't think it would work.

People can change. She might have gotten over her bigotry after the Reaper fiasco.

Since when was Miranda ever bigoted against asari? Have you ever taken her to Illium? She envies the asari.

2 points.

1. She is not bigoted against Asari
2. After she learns about the Prothean beacon they kept hidden for themselves, she might be.

Sorry. Knee jerk reaction to Cerberus. Gotta work on that.

So.. If she did adopt an Asari would she try to make her live the life she would have wanted? Like those mothers who enter their daughters in beauty pagents?

She envies their ingenuity and adapptivness and their culture.  Not necessarily the Aari themselves

Not envy in that sense.

 I'd play it for amusement.

But not if it's Liara's.

I think in Mass Effect almost anything is possible, given that Miranda said that she was genetically created using mostly genes from her Father. So I think given the ability to manipulate the genetic structure, that the Mass Effect writers could find a way to have Shepard or any other human have children with most any species. I believe Mordan said Humans most genetically diverse of any species. So between the Humans, Asari, Hannar, and the Salarians, they should be able to manipulate any ones genetic structure.

As long as I am NOT forced to play as an Asari, then whatever. I have lost faith in Bioware so my expectations are low.

I'm not opposed to the idea, but only if it is in a minor role or non-essential to the story. Mostly because my main Shepard romanced Tali, and thus (biological) children would be impossible.

However, it would be neat to see Junior on my playthroughs where I romanced Ash/Liara/Miranda/etc.
