The Descendent - An achievement unlock that you get when you import a certain ME3 save file.
You only get this if you import a save file where you romanced Liara as a male/female.
(and possibly the other female love interests as well)
The ME3 love interest obviously have to survive the events of ME3 in the save file as well.
It then allows you to create your "descendent" character...which would have to be an Asari.
(If the other female love interests were apart of this...then you would obviously be forced to create the certain species...human...and Quarian (if that's even possible).
All this does is simply give you a different background codex...and adds a few lines of different dialog from certain characters.

It "could" work if the game was made like DA: Origins...but I think too many variables would be needed for the import save file.
That being said...you could have it where the main character could be multiple races with multiple upbringing backgrounds...just like DA: Origins...and you get different dialog depending on your race.
You could have the core race characters...each with their own different backgrounds...or you could use the "genetic code" from your import file.
This "genetic code" only triggers if you have certain flags on your save file.
For instance...
You get it if you're a male shep who romanced the female characters...and they all survived.
You get it if you're a female shep who romanced Liara and she survived.
If you romanced a human character...you obviously get the choice of a human girl/boy with the "descendent" background.
If you romanced Liara...you get an Asari with the "descendent" background.
It doesn't have to be anything game breaking...it could just be in the dialog and how people treat you...just like in Dragon Age Origins...how people always show respect towards a human noble...but not a dalish elf.

Fixed. We don't know how everyone plays there Shepard. Say if my Earthborn sole survivor had a few back when he was 16, there would be no way to prove that one way or the other.Necanor wrote...

Thats not fair. Why should players be penalized for not choosing the 'right' love interest?CDR David Shepard wrote...

Yeah of course, but it's rather strange to make a game with Shep's son as a protagonist, when 2/3 of the Sheps didn't have children.

What do you mean, that's not fair?
These love interest pairings are the only way Shepard could have a kid.
Unless you're talking about just Liara...and completely missed where I said and possibly all the other female love interests as well.

Shepard being with a human or Asari is not cannon. People have their own vision of Shepard's legacy. If ME4 went along with a cannon human L.I., that would really make some fans mad.
I think the whole idea of this thread is for it to be an option.
Not for it to be forced on everyone.

It would be like Bioware making a DLC, but only people who gave their Shepards big ears or something could get it.

What content are they missing out on?
If you read my previous post...the only thing it would add is a different background codex and some possible different dialog from other characters.
It's enough to give the player acknowledgement that they are playing Shepards descendent...but not nearly enough to be anything gamebreaking.
It's no different than someone missing out on the different dialog depending on which gender you made Shepard....and definitely not nearly as in depth.

Extremely unlikely. Too many variables to account for (Shepard's fate, choice of LI, etc). Most likely, unless they pull something IT-esque and retcon ME3's ending, that ship will never leave port.
They'll never accept IT as canon imo.
