They're an armor unit that moves faster than a hamster on coke! All the other armored units in the game, with the exception of the banshee, are really slow. The bomber is a drone so it doesn't count.

BW, reduce the speed of the dragoon, or change them to shield/health and I'll be happy!

Yeah yeah, I understand quickly but you have to explain things at length to me :P:innocent:

The dragoon's hornet is the biggest offender. I am ok with the speed and the charge - it is easy to trick him into smashing. Its just that he does so much damage with the hornet that it becomes very difficult to manage them at times.

The speed is bit riddicilous, but the accuracy they shoot with while running is just silly.

Changing them to shield/health doesn't fix the main issue - Cerberus is a tactical faction that will attempt to flank you or even draw back if things get to hairy. They are adverse to being shot in the face and even their previously most feared enemy (Phantoms) would stop attacking and attempt to preserve its life if you were shooting at it.

Dragoons do not flank, do not draw back, and do nothing to try to avoid being shot in the face. They just keep rushing and rushing and rushing and they make NO SENSE as part of Cerberus.

If anyone played their Ex-Cerberus characters like that they'd be kicked as soon as they got back to the lobby.

The amazing things about the Dragoons is that they can also cancel their Smash animations to shoot you with their CCLXXVI level Hornets. Now THAT'S cheap.

WORD! I saw a Dragoon cancel his Smash to heavy melee... when a teammate ran up from behind to attack it (Shadow Strike I think). The poor chap was stunned, the Dragoon turned around and Smashed him instead:(

Dragoon's not that bad.

Unless you're a Kishock equipped Stasis Sniper Asari Vanguard.

In which case they're unstoppable. You may as well try to throw rocks at flies. Compensating for projectile lag on a target so small and fast is a nightmare. I've been considering adding a ULM pistol sidearm specifically to deal with them.

They move faster than a Phantom. It makes ZERO sense. They should move slowly until they're in Smash range. That would make them more balanced because then there'd be an actual tactic involved to deal with them - take them out before they get close.

Current Dragoon tactic is SCREAM AND FIRE RANDOMLY AT THE ENEMY WHO IS NEVER IN THE SAME SPOT FOR MORE THAN A SECOND.

They can shoot while smashing sometimes and recover from smash super fast to shoot some more. It's ridiculous.

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned that they can shoot you when they start their whip animations sometimes. Apparently they are very talented.

EDIT: Ninja'd at the last second.

Phoenix characters can smash cancel far better than Dragoons can.

Just got wiped on Gold on wave 6 because of a cartload of dragoons. Dragoons and bombers are pure chaos units - they are meant to break your ranks and eliminate any tactical teamplay. They don't fit the groups they are in, they are just there to make the game harder - and make no sense at all (phoenix vanguard has health and shields, not armor). I used to win almost every gold match I was in - now it's all just running and screaming. Way to remove all sense of accomplishment. This is frustrating and I think I'll stay away from ME3 MP for a while (300 hours is enough anyway, and the weekend challenges without a community goal are not helping either).

I think they actually make logical sense. What is a "Dragoon"? The typical definition is that of a cavalry unit for close support and rapid assault.

Sounds like what the Cerberus version is. As for tactics, flushing us out of cover into their friends' gunsights isn't a tactic?

My Krogans laugh at Cerberus' attempts to field a viable melee unit.

Okay..... I look at the thread title, guy claims that he knows why Dragoons anger so many people (or at least those who are vocal about it). Look at the OP, and honestly, I don't see anything that gives a decent explanation.

"They're an armor unit that moves faster than a hamster on coke! All the other armored units in the game, with the exception of the banshee, are really slow."

Not to be rude or anything, but I'm pretty sure that a majority of us have already figured that out among other things....

Eh, they're a bit too fast and their Hornets are a bit too good.

The most aggravating thing for me, is trying to heavy melee them. If they're in the middle of a smash, there's a good chance your heavy melee won't connect with them at all, even if you're practically humping them.

Am I the only one who thinks the Dragoons are a welcome addition to the Cerberus ranks?

I don't get the whole 'doesn't fit' argument. If a force's strategy isn't working, wouldn't the person responsible seek to amend that? So if the defensive, 'strategic' plans aren't working (and they weren't, Cerberus pre-Dragoon were a joke) why not try something new and radically different? Enter a lightning-fast armoured foe. So what if his tactics are odd in comparison to his squadmates'? They work!

Comparing him to a player-controlled character is plain silly. There are 4 of us, and a LOT of them. Charging recklessly to your death as a player, whilst taking out 2 enemies, is not smart. However, if that Dragoon adopts the same tactics and manages to kill 2 players before biting the bullet I would say his buddies would be rather happy that he single-handedly wiped out 50% of the enemy force.

Yes, his hornet is a bit silly. But is there an enemy who isn't using a Level XXX weapon when playing on Gold or Platinum?

Agreed.  And you'll take damage from them as well.

The characters I mostly play as don't have too much of a problem with Dragoons, but like Geth, they are not fun in anyway, they just feel cheap rush. They're the Rocket Troopers of Cerberus.

I probably killed them like metric sh*t load by now.

Dragoons are OK & don't need change on Gold/Platinum.

On Bronze/Silver do whatever you like, I don't care.
