I was thinking that a one-handed weapon skill tree would be nice for the Arcane Warrior. Especially if you give the one-handed weapon skills a quick draw line. It would be nice to be able to do damage from a weapon draw, especially since unmodded Arcane Warriors have to sheathe weapons to cast some spells. Also, iaido isn't limited to katanas. Fiore de Liberi's Italian school of longsword (at least) has quick-draw techniques for a straight-bladed longsword.

I do understand that this won't work very well for as long as weapons are sheathed on the character's back. This would have to wait for DAO 2, when they make the rag doll physics and let you have weapons in a scabbard.

I wasn't talking about iaido...I am talking about Tai Chi..which I did. It is very graceful and like sword dancing...which requires a Kitana...It be nice to see something like Tai Chi in DAO 2.

My good lady, I wasn't talking about Tai Chi or addressing your post. I was talking about iaido because it would be nice to have iaido in DAO 2. I still remember Samurai Showdown and I would like to see that in DAO 2. Also, playing as an unmodded Arcane Warrior, I got tired of the sheathing and drawing and thought it would be nice to be able to do damage while drawing your sword.

In Aikido (of japanese origin) we practise with a bokken (wooden katana), and as far as I know Tai Chi is of chinese origin, therefore I'm baffled by the statement above, since both are rooted in old and proud traditions.

..anyway, does it really matter what is most efficient in real life? (one handed) single weapon talents would be cool, but if I had to choose I'd rather have spear talents.

Yes.  You would've thought a medieval-themed fantasy game would've had at the very least the basic grunts/cannon fodder wielding forks on a stick.

hmmm....maybe some minor bonuses for wielding a long sword with no shield. perhaps bonuses to speed and a small bonus to hit a monster/npc. no special abilities, just a few bonuses.

It's silly.

What? You're going to block the huge war axe swinging down at your neck with that toothpick? There's a reason that people use a shield instead of another sword.

Dual wielding is a whole other ball game, hence the high Dexterity required for it.

No, I'm going to evade it - shields are way to cumbersome for that Image IPB

And so you would maximize your offensive power by using another sword . . .

See where I'm going?

But it'll sure be a lot easier to hit you, when I don't have to split my focus on two weapons.
I do see where you're going, that's the whole point!

How real world weapons work doesn't matter- DAO is a role playing game, therefore how your character acts and looks in the game is very important. I'd also like to use a single weapon effectively, because that's what i believe my heroic grey warden (and arcane warrior) should be capable of.

How will it be easier to hit me exactly? :?

Hmm, with my left hand I grab your axe, while I cut your arm off with the weapon in my right hand Image IPB

Tai Chi requires a sword? Isn't that the "martial art" that old women do to fight osteoporosis?

Because the movements are actually done by a real person to be computer generated....did you know that? So...yeah...you sorta need it to be efficient in real life...to work on a game.
