Get DA3 on console.
Problems solved.
If the above is impossible, enjoy using origin.

I uninstalled Echelon, sorry Origin, ~5 month ago and I really don't want to install it again. But I guess I have to if I want to play DA3
One can only hope that Origin has improved by the time DA3 is released. But untill then it's not going back on my harddrive.

This is like asking that the next Half-Life not come out on Steam but only Origin. It's not going to happen.
It's more like asking for a service that doesn't shut down for 2-3 hours simply because one server went down. Thankfully I'm at work but people havent been able to get Origin to work with ME3 all afternoon.
I'd rather not have a game I payed for tied to some buggy beta test in order for it to work. I went though that with D3 release, it's not a fun experience.

Inquisition will certainly be published by Electronic Arts, who created Origin to compete with Steam. Half-Life is published by Valve, who created Steam. Why would Valve or EA allow their games to be available in the other's software? They'd be losing money. And as Steam is vastly superior and also way more popular, Electronic Arts would be losing a huge sum of $.
It's not happening, people.

Good call, probably a good idea to wait for reviews on this one anyway.anorling wrote...

You mean like Orange Box, L4D being on origin, or Portal 2?
Or like windows and google releasing products on iphones?

You're not buying the digital versions of the game via Origin. I don't know for sure regarding Orange Box, but EA was the retail distributor for boxed copies of Portal 2.

This isn't the same. The iPhone is literally a different piece of hardware (with a huge install base to boot).

Well if what your hinting at here is that we're stuck with the current setup (which is just silly imo, ask apple how well they are doing against google maps). Then can we at least have correct integration(if thats even possible)?
Whatever Origin does when I start ME3 locks up the game for a solid minute or two every time I visit the main menu.
It also wants to verify my DLC each time I start the game, so in the unlucky case of me losing my connection I have to jump through hoops just to get DLC to work or just simply not play.

These are the two things I'd like to see addressed the most, that solid minute of not being able to use the chat is incredibly irritating (especially when for whatever reason you end up having to restart the game a few times).
Same for the DLC verification, it's really annoying to not be able to play the SP if my connection goes down. Implement an offline mode like Steam and just keep verifying the DLC periodically (once a week for example).
For the record, I don't hate Origin, but I do want to see it become a bit less annoying.

DA2 was better, but it still had plenty of hiccups in the framerate and sound files that didn't synchronize with the scene. I'm not sure, however, if Edge of Reality had anything to do with the PS3 port on this game.
I guess I'll know what to expect when I buy the ME Trilogy, since they've helped with the ME1 PS3 port, as far as I know of. Unsure about ME2 and ME3.

But I WILL play DA3. I'll probably just buy it and never install it...but still play it. Make your own conclusions.

Or just verify it once, and not require me to be online every single time I start up the game. I never saw the point to constant online verification. What am I going to do, uninstall my legitimately bought dlc and install a pirated one?Zjarcal wrote...

Having to physically yank out my router cable whenever I wanted to play ME3 because setting Origin to offline mode does squat and firewall blocking ME3 just crashes the game is not my idea of a good feature. It's just a pointless, unecessary hassle.

My 2 Dragon Ages were no drama because I had the disks, but half of my Sims 3 were downloaded, the other half not. Despite having all the files on external hard drive, there were various problems with getting Origin to recognise them. The best bit was when, somehow, a whole bunch of .exe files got renamed to .ex_ and I had to rename them back before I could run installers. What?
(Secretly, I actually really enjoyed figuring out this insane process, but that's hardly the point. Heheh.)
Hopefully DA3 will still be on disk.

I've bought two games this past year on disk, and even though I had bought the damn things on disk, when I put the disk into the tray and hit install, the loader pops up and downloads the entire game anyway! I figure in the future, the only thing that will come on a dvd disk will be the 250 KB installer.

+1, but it's unlikely to happen. Then again, the Internet in all its terrible ingenuity usually corrects for bad DRM.

If you go console, you don't have to use Origin, but you get no mods.
