If Steam sells DA3:I, you can bet that there will be an EA account involved. Whether that will still required Origin is anyone's guess. The two games I mentioned do not require Origin, but as an EA-account system, Origin integrates with them if present.
Also, Steam doesn't have Steam-cloud integration and such for the two games that I bought through Steam. Yet if I download and launch them through Origin, they have Origin-cloud integration and such. So it is likely that Steam-cloud will not work with DA3:I, but the installation of Origin and using that to download the product that you purchased through Steam will probably enable Origin-cloud stuff.
By that, I would guess that they might make DA3:I available on Steam, but you'd need to install Origin and download through Origin (but not needing to purchase through Origin if you purchased through Steam) if you want the cloud features.
I would be okay with that, actually. Buy through Steam and skip the Origin cloud features if I want or buy through Steam (Summer sale roxxorz my boxxorz) and use Origin to get the Origin cloud features if I want.

I didn't buy me3 solely because of the origin requirement. And the same will be true for all bioware games that insist on a mandatory origin client install until such time as we can opt out of data collection by the client.
If Bioware has any interest in my purchasing their games new again, they have the choice to make origin optional, or make the eula/tos more respectful of customer privacy and ensuring my enduring right to play what I have paid for.
And to be clear, i find steam just as distasteful. I would rather deal with a first party client like origin than a third party one like steam. But not while the eula and tos undermine basic privacy and reasonable consumer expectations.
And yeah, that likely means I won't be playing DA3. But after DA2 and what I've heard about me3, i can live with that. Or maybe i'll buy it secondhand for console if it turns out to be a return to form. But this is one aspect of things that i will not tolerate. If you give a damn about my business, EA, you still have time to do something about it. I won't be holding my breath though.

Origin once again does not fail to surprise me.
Now we are getting kicked out of games because the thing can't wait to hold off on auto updates.
For the love of god remove yourself as much as you can from this blight.

This entire discussion is extremely pointless. You might as well start a petition to separate Bioware from EA, for all the good it would do.
No Origin is a slight possibility, although very unlikely. Steam support is pretty much a guaranteed no though. There is no way that they will make any more EA games use Steam over Origin.

I don't care that origin works well for other people, it still doesn't work well for me. I have put a lot of time trying to make it perform better, but there aren't really any good solutions online. The supportforums here on BSN are useless as well when it comes to origin related issues. I have had several different issues with origin and all of them seem to be common. I bought ME3 on disc but was forced to download it to be able to install it since Origin messed up the verification process. That was just the start of my Origin mess..
If ME3 is ever released on Steam I will not hesitate to buy it again. Anything to be able to play my favorite games whenever I want to play them...
