So I have equiped various items to Morrigan robes/gloves/staff/rings that give apparent bonuses to cold damage. But i didn't see improvement to damage so i sought to test it out.

Saved before a certain encounter, used cone of cold and winter's grasp, and there was no difference in damage before and after I took two rings off - one gave +5%  cold damage and the other +10% cold damage. Does anyone else have this problem? or are the bonuses somehow applied in a different way?

I've honestly never paid much attention but I imagine it would be a pain to take time & calculate what enemy type specifically did you do x number of damage to with x cold spell without rings try that same enemy again hope the numbers come up see your damage add %15 more see if its correct.

honestly with how many minor bugs there are in this game that Bioware seems completely content with ignoring our outcries I doubt it works properly & I doubt it will anytime soon but if you must no just keep testing. use fraps get screens what ever you can do to track it. good luck hope you solve it.

I did exactly what you say - attack the same enemy with the rings/gloves, then reload and cast the same spell on the same enemy without rings/gloves, and the damage remained the same. I then tried a spirit damage spell (crushing prison/arcane bolt) with the dreamsever ring (+10% spirit damage) and that bonus was correctly applied, so I think the cold spells are not having the bonus applied.



gonna take this over to tech support. it's a pity about the bugs - keeps my mage from being awesome

I think those bonuses are capped at 30, maybe the staff and robe alone give 30? Take off all of the equipment and then test it.
