I don't have Ash, but if she's anything like Garrus then the Widow out of what you mentioned. Lots of people swear by the Black Widow but I dislike it. The N7 Valiant from the CE is good and the Kyrsae from the Firefight pack is as well.

I dislike the Widow because of how freakin huge it is... it's almost as big as her. I give her the Valiant... she kicks ass with it.

Because of the way her AI works with Sniper Rifles, she's best off going with a very powerful single-shot rifle like the Widow or Javelin. She shoots SRs very slowly, so stuff like the Valiant etc are not great options, as she won't use them to their strengths.

The Black Widow is a better option than the Valiant simply down to it's higher damage per shot, but isn't that great a choice in comparison to the others mentioned.

That said, in practice, I tend to give her the Black Widow mainly because it's my preferred SR, so it's likely going to be the most heavily upgraded SR I've got.

Surprisingly, she actually fires the Valiant pretty consistently. Of course, it's still the not the best SR, but it's the best if you don't want her weilding a BFG.

Always wondered how well she would do with a Javelin. Anybody tried this?

Sure, it's just that the Valiant's strength is heavily orientated around its accuracy and lack of recoil. This doesn't matter to squadmates.

On paper its still a good rifle, its just that what takes it into the game's top 3 is a combination of factors, only one of which is its per-shot punch, another the rate of fire. She won't do it as efficiently as Shep can and hence its' not a great choice.

But, as I say, she does well enough with any high-grade SR. it's just there's better options than the Valiant :P

Basically this.

Garrus and Ash will fire all the low ROF snipers at the same rate as the single shots.  The only ones they fire faster are essentially the Indra and the Raptor.

As for what is best, it depends on what you want out of her.  If you want her to run Disruptor ammo and stun more enemies, equip the Indra or switch her to an AR like the Revenant or Harrier.

Otherwise she should just start with the Mantis, then wait until you get the Javelin and then Widow.  Black Widow doesn't do as much damage per shot as the Mantis and they will fire it at the same rate.
