What's the number of effects you can have on an enemy at one time?

I've noticed that when I use certain abilities like horror and mark of death together one cancels out the other so is there an effect limit on enemies? It would make sense, I really need to figure this out tho cuz I'm playing on Nightmare difficulty and want to try and beat the game without pausing and issuing orders (limiting myself to just pausing and analyzing just no setting up attacks) and can't know myself since enemies have magic resistence and don't stay disabled for long anyways. Thank you in advance.

I'm pretty sure that horror and mark of death should work together. Almost all abilities stack besides certain statuses (an enemy can't be staggered/brittle/disoriented at the same time).
Mark of death works by decreasing enemy damage resistance, so there shouldn't be any overlap with horror (which is a stun). I could be wrong, but I've never noticed such a thing anyway.
Anyhow, your best bet for playing without pausing would be to use tactics.
Just set your allies to use your crowd control/debuffs on elite enemies with 'enemy rank: elite or higher - use: horror'

Thank you I guess I'll have to try it on another playthrough, it could be that I was fighting the dragon at the bone pit. And I'm at the moment trying to use tactics better but AI still isn't that smart.
