Usually to bring in mod items to your current game, such as the OC, you use the console. To use them in the OC, you need to put the files into your override folder. Then you need to find out the name of the item, which has a .UTI extension, and use that in the console.
Example: You find that the armour you want is called atom_neroosblade.UTI
1. Activate the console. (Use the `/~ key)
2. Type: debugmode 1
3. Type: giveitem atom_neroosblade
4. Type: debugmode 0
5. Close the console. (Use the `/~ key)
The Dark Armoury mod does not include .UTI files (blueprints), and is released as a modder's resource, not something that's ready to play by the end user. However, there is another mod that supplies *some* UTI files for the Dark Armoury which you can use with the method I listed above, called Atom's Armoury.

You don't convert them. You need those MDB and DDS files as they are. The UTI file just tells the game what to do with them, and that's what the Atom's Armoury does.
As for hak files, the easiest way to get them into the OC is to extract the contents of the hak using NWN2packer, and placing the contents into your override folder. Then you'd do the same thing as above -- look for the UTI file of the item you want, and use the console to give that item to your character. Most hak packs do include UTIs, especially if they're made to be used by players. The Dark Armoury doesn't, for some reason.

ok..........i downloaded this mod called Alternative Cloaks 0.20 by boonshanka......http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2HakpaksOriginal.Detail&id=408
in installation ,1. Unrar the .hak file and place it in your "\\My Documents\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\hak" folder.
2. Open up yer toolset, add the hakpak to your module, make a cloak blue print, starting cloaks number should be 39... and... Enjoy!
i did first step but in second step i really understnd how do i add hackpack to oc.......through toolset as there r lot of modules in oc editor.......also through nw2packer i extrated mod hack files but all files r in dds & mdb format......i m unable to c those cloak files in all bluprint option....act i wanted these 2 mods for unique cloaks i like some frm these 2 mods.....

means through toolset we can't add item hackpack to oc, we have to extract hack pack to my doc./nw2/override folder & then we can get item through console debug commonds

I'm having trouble understanding what you're asking. But based on the instruction you quoted, it sounds like that Alternative Cloaks mod doesn't include blueprints either, and it's designed to be used by modders, not players.

Tchos, I also have the Dark Armory mod but was a bit lost on how to get it working. I usually use the Character Editor to give my characters special items; could you clarify if the lack of UTI files for Dark Armory the reason that the items do not show up in the Character Editor?

A UTI is an "item blueprint". There are other files with .*UT* extensions for the other kinds of blueprints, like UTC for creatures, and UTP for placeables. You make these files in the toolset, and they contain references to the models provided in packs like the Dark Armoury (MDB files). So you create an item in the toolset, such as a sword, and you give it properties. Then you point it toward the model to say "this is what it looks like". Once you've saved one of these blueprints, you can put the UTI file in your override folder and give it to yourself using the console.
