1) Stagger effect only seems to work if all pellets impact one target. This wouldn't be a big deal if the spread wasn't so wide, but it is. Or it's some other random effect, because it certainly doesn't seem consistent. 

2) This is a poor comparison, since you're speaking about a niche that can be better served with other weapons that don't force you to carry around what basically amounts to a really neat looking bayonet lug, such as the Talon or Piranha. 

3) Why? What melee class are you referring to? Because the only class I'd consider taking the Disciple with an Omni-blade on is the Shadow. My Krogans certainly don't care about cooldowns. My Batarians don't either. This essentially is a niche that is so specific as to be non existent.

The Disciple should be buffed. The only reason it sees use is if someone is feeling particularly masochistic, or if they're using a Shadow Strike focused N7 Shadow. I started using it for the challenge banners and decided I would try a different shotgun. It's terrible. There's no dancing around it.

Are you trying to say the Disciple is appropriately powerful for its rarity?

Also, a gun should not exist solely to be used for some sort of mod. It should exist to, you know, shoot things.

Omni-Blade adds a flat 0.5 weight penalty.

The Disciple weighs 0.5 itself, the Katana weighs 0.9. A Disciple with an Omni-Blade weighs 1.0, and a Katana with an Omni-Blade adds 1.4. (Don't believe me? Watch your cooldown bonus. The weight bar on the mod screen is lying about the weight of the Omni-Blade). So... no. A Disciple with an Omni-Blade does not have half the weight of a Katana with the same.

As for the Disciple's high stagger rate... I'd like to see a bit more on how those mechanics work. It has a higher stagger rate than most hitscan guns, but in my experience you get better results with more damaging guns with higher rates of fire, or projectile weapons.

Buff a Common and Uncommon? Not really necessary. Buff the Rare. The others don't need it at all since, as has been pointed out, the Katana's already better.

My thing is with this weapon, they need to make it live up to it's description. In other words, it needs to stagger shielded enemies. Damage can stay but it needs to stagger with every shot. I've been saying this from the beginning.

I wish the devs had heard you. Honestly, I agree. The damage isn't great, but it is a light weapon... what this weapon needs is a niche, a functionality beyond being an omni-blade hanger. Stagger would make it perfect, and for crying out loud, that's what the description promises anyway. 

Consistent stagger would make this gun worth something, finally.

Yay! I used the Disciple on my AV on Silver tonight... I switched over to the Acolyte instead.  I really want to use the Disciple more...

I'm thinking the message was an indication that the Disciple may be in the next set of balance changes. I'm hoping, anyway.

I just hope it's not some relatively insignificant buff, like what the GPR got.

+1. The Disciple is an awful weapon that shouldn't be awful. It looks and sounds cool, but if that is all the Justicar have to defend them, I feel sorry for them.

Buff it ! I mean make the shots stagger normal enemies all the time (Trooper, Rocket Trooper, Centurion, Cannibal, Marauder, Husk, Abomination , Captain etc) + increase damage slightly ..& keep everything else just the way it is...

I seriously was able to one-shot kill a Guardian on Gold with the Discipline X on my Shadow while stealthing and aiming point blank at the head. But in truth , he only had 3/4 life left..nevertheless i stopped for a second to stare at the shotgun in awe. Then i laughed.
