The only thing that i can really remember being vastly OP was the kyrsae, and well we saw how that happened.Gamemako wrote...
Why is it that egregious balance issues involving underpowered guns are all but ignored, while modest nerfs of vastly-overpowered guns ignite firestorms of complaints?

It's a shame the shots are as gentle as their creators' touch.

I doubt it. I get more reliable stager out of any other shotgun but the one that advertises to be a stager machine. <_<

The main issue is the fact that it hasn't been touched since launch, whilst enemy factions have undergone multiple buffs. Other weapons have been buffed appropriately to scale with this. The Disciple, on the other hand, has not been scaled, so it's drastically behind all of the other weapons, especially when accounting for its rare status.
It wasn't all that good when the game shipped. Now it's laughable.

In terms of DPS, it was a little below average at launch. And I mean average as compared to all weapons, including common and uncommon ones. Yep, including all the awful SMGs. After leaving the Disciple alone and buffing the hell out of everything else, introducing vastly superior new weapons, and increasing the discrepancy between weapon tiers (where the line at launch was not necessarily well-defined), the Disciple simply looks like complete crap these days.
Of course, it was never very good. Look at how it stacks up to the Carnifex despite how that gun has been untouched in terms of damage. The Carnifex originally weighed in at 0.35 to the Disciple's 0.5. The Carnifex has much better range, equal burst DPS, and better sustained DPS. Why the hell would you use a Disciple? The answer is simple: you shouldn't. This is since launch. The Carnifex is now pretty mediocre compared to the rest of the weapons (and the weight has been nerfed), and I haven't seen someone use one in one of my games since I returned to ME3MP a week or so before the Retaliation DLC dropped. I've even seen someone carrying an Eagle, too.

That way the Disiple has a unique mechanic that might make picking it up worthwhile (especially against cerberus)

The disciple seemed like a sensible choice.... but even then it worked out too heavy, and for a gun that might as well throw harsh words at the enemy.
Sticking with the acolyte. superior in every way

instead of simply buffing damage (which is boring) I'd like to see them add some force (500N if all pellets hit ??) to the gun. Thus, when shooting a husk the damage might not kill them, but you will get to watch them fly across the map.

While that's a hilarious idea, it would probably require a patch since no weapons apply a direct ragdoll like that right now.
Damage buffs may be boring, but they're pretty much all you got. Also, I doubt anyone would bother with the Disciple even if it did have funny ragdoll effects. You can't ragdoll a Praetorian.
