i'm just wondering if this is doable and how i'd like to have  a character who is a warrior but also a mage is this doable at all or would it break the game? i'm a complete novice at modding DA at the moment.

Should be quite simple. Use the console commands to learn mage spells.

Will it break the game? Nope. I do it all the time.

You can even go to this mod, which will force your character to be the class and origin of your choosing, i.e. a Dalish mage, or a Warrior from the Circle origins.

http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=201

Be warned though, the mod can goof up the dialogue options. You might be a Dalish mage, but some people will refer to you as a Circle mage. Nothing game breaking, but it can ruin immersion.

If you manually add talents using the console, nothing to worry about. Just make your character, say, a Human Noble warrior, and as soon as you get past the first cutscene, open the console and type in:

runscript addtalent 4023

That will unlock the core mage spells, no adverse effect on dialogue. Repeat for every spell you want.

But, mainly, read that wiki page I linked, it should tell you everything. ^_^

There is a great tutorial for this on the wiki. You can do a full class from scratch complete with backgrounds and what not. It takes a bit of practice however.
