As Kallia rushes over to treat the injured Sniper, Jimmy chases after the loyalist, catching sight of him as he flees the scene. Jimmy only fires once, but the enemy gunman had his back turned to Jimmy and was running in the opposite direction. He had no chance.

They can run... but they can't hide!

Mwuhahahahaaaa!

Okay, this is awesome! Just why wasn't JA2 on sale since I signed up on GOG.com...? One of my favourite games ever.

Funnily enough, I didn't buy Jagged Alliance 2 from GOG. I have a hardcopy of the Jagged Alliance Compilation set I found at EB Games for only $9.

Contains JA, JA: Deadly Games, JA 2 Gold and JA 2: Unfinished Business.

$9, mang. What a bargain.

Also, sig test.

I still have my old copies of JA and Deadly Games, but I gave my JA2 stuff to a friend years ago and never got it back. Some magazine I bought came with JA2 Wildfire (?), but that wasn't as good as the real thing.

I want a real JA3 someday. This Back in Action thing looked horrible...

Chapter Index, Introduction and BSN Party Member Profiles.

Recap:

The group of Fast Jimmy, Johnnie Walker, Celrath, Kallianira, KloieKat and Billy the Squid meet up with BioWare Social Network rebel leader, Allan Schumacher. On the behalf of Stanley Woo, the party have come to aid the rebel against the tyrannical reign of Queen Jessica Merizan.

After pledging themselves to the cause, the party has been assigned it's first mission. They make their way to the Dragon Age: Origins subforums and meet up with a clergyman who Allan is very familiar with and who agrees to bring supplies for the rebel cause.

Before returning to Allan, the team decide to conquer the last loyalist held section of the Dragon Age: Origins subforums and throw the Merizan occupation out of the subforum once and for all.

Chapter 7:

Image IPB

Image IPB: We'll take the direct approach. Storm into town and kill every enemy in sight.

Image IPB: Isn't that a bit, uhh... umm, suicidal?

Image IPB: Not at all. It's a large area, so the loyalists would be spread out. If we're lucky, we won't encounter more than two or three hostiles at a time. We'll be fine.

Image IPB: Famous last words.

Image IPB: Other people have said that to me before.

Image IPB: Let's hope she won't be the last to say it to you, then. As odd as that sounds.

Within seconds of deployment, the team is found out by an enemy soldier.

Image IPB

Image IPB: Yep, this is certainly going to plan.

Before their position is fully compromised, Billy maims the soldier from long range. Recognising that getting pinned down as a cluster would likely mean death, Kloie and Billy provide suppressing fire for the rest of the team. They take up positions and hunker down, while Jimmy, Celrath, Vette and Kallia move behind the cover of a house.

While it shields the team and allows most of them to move into a safer position, the suppressive fire draws the attention of other loyalists in the area, leaving Kloie exposed.

Image IPB: Kloie, incoming!

Image IPB: ...

Image IPB: Kloie, get behind cover!

Image IPB: ... ...

Image IPB: Kloie!

Image IPB

Image IPB

Image IPB

As Kloie started building up her very own blood bank, Billy takes the opportunity to dash to a nearby building that occupies Kloie's blindspot. Positioning himself right ensures that the team sniper wouldn't be at risk of being flanked or attacked by surprise. At least, that was Billy's thought process.

Unfortunately for him, that was exactly what Merizan's loyalists had intended to do.

Image IPB

Image IPB: Ugh. Can't believe my luck...

Unless Billy could maneuver the situation carefully, he would come under tremendous risk of serious injury. Or possibly even death. The other team members seemed to have an easier time of things.

Image IPB

They take out a couple of stragglers, then make their way towards Billy's position after hearing his messages on the comm links.

Image IPB: Sh*t... I'm gonna need backup, guys!

Image IPB: We'll try to outflank these jokers, hold tight until then.

Image IPB: There's like 4 guys who are about to surround me, I don't know whether I can hold on for long!

Image IPB: We'll be there really quick, just keep calm and do what you c-

Image IPB: I am a leaf on the wind; watch how I soar.

Image IPB: Kloie...? What are y-

Image IPB

Image IPB

Image IPB

Image IPB: ...oh... wow, thanks...

Image IPB: You're welcome. xD

The resolve of the two remaining troopers wavers. They hesitate and do not press their attack on Billy's position - they were more worried about Kloie picking them off.

Vette takes full advantage of their fear and sprints within range of one of the loyalists before he was able to react.

Image IPB

Image IPB: You're dead, pea brain.

Just as Vette reloads her shotgun, Jimmy signals that there's movement south of his position. Seconds later, an angry high ranking loyalist in the mood to kick ass emerges from a nearby house and moves to fire at Vette.

Image IPB

Vette reacts quickly; she wheels around and fires at her assailant before he is able to get a shot off.

Image IPB

Needing to reload once more, Vette allows Jimmy to swoop in and take the kill.

Image IPB

Image IPB: You guys need to be careful, there's still plenty of civilians and innocents here!

Image IPB: Tch, we'll be fine.

Image IPB

Image IPB: Hey, wait! Come back here!

Led by Celrath, the team chase after the loyalist, who flees for his life. He eventually finds and hides behind a formation of large rocks. However, it doesn't take long for them to find him and pepper his position.

True to form, it is Kloie who takes the man out, deftly flanking him from the east side.

Image IPB

Image IPB: Heh. You are unstoppable today, Kloie. Well done.

Image IPB: Yeah, saved my life back there.

Image IPB: Don't relax yet. There are ten confirmed kills. Intel suggests there are eleven loyalists in the area.

Each member of the team nods silently. They spread out and check each building for the last remaining hostile.

Image IPB

Image IPB

Image IPB: Let's check the modding office.

Image IPB: Okay.

Kallia and Billy saunter off to the modding office. As they turn a corner to head inside, they get the surprise of their lives. The final loyalist alive jumps the two of them. He'd been waiting for the team to split up.

Image IPB

Kallia fires her weapon, but to no avail. Showing amazing reflexes, he manages to sidestep and dodge the bullet at close range. Using his momentum, he makes a move at Billy in the one motion.

Image IPB

Image IPB

He clocks the ranger with a massive haymaker, scoring a direct hit on the jaw. Pow, right in the kisser. Billy crumples and falls face first onto the ground, unconscious.

Before the loyalist is able to make another move, Kallia swings around and shoots the man from behind. He falls right on top of Billy, dead.

Image IPB

With that, all enemy hostiles are defeated and the team realise that they have kicked Merizan's forces out of the Dragon Age: Origins subforums completely. Many of the people come to congratulate and Jimmy talks things over with the subforum's most prominent people. They all offer their gratitude, even pledging supplies or funds to Kickstart the team's campaign of liberation.

News quickly spreads far and wide of the team's heroics and for a moment, they take a break to give themselves a well deserved pat on the back.

Meanwhile...

Lol. I'm having a rough time here! I fear for my life D: But then again, best man into the firing line first I'm going to attract my fair share of fire. :D Think yourselves lucky people! Those bullets would otherwise be aimed at you!

I have the speed of a mongoose and the reflexes of a jungle cat, to survive the hail of gunfire... but apparently I can't block a punch >.< Hahaha, I was doing the gentlemanly thing, letting him have the first punch before I laid him out. I had him right were I wanted him :P

Before returning to Allan, the team ponder on what to do next, and how best to progress in their overall mission of taking back the BioWare Social Network...

Chapter 8:

Image IPB: Haha, yeah!

Image IPB: Fvckin' A!

Image IPB: So... what now?

Image IPB: We party? ;.;

Image IPB: Aren't we supposed to be getting back to Allan or something?

Image IPB: Screw that, we need to relax for a while!

Image IPB: Last time we did that, we nearly got killed.

Jimmy's words cut deep in the minds of the team members. Guess it won't be partysville for them just yet.

Image IPB: No, what we're going to do is prepare ourselves for the road ahead. Allan won't receive the supplies until tomorrow, so there's no need to go back to the Off-Topic Zone today. What we'll do is rest up and train some of the locals here to defend themselves. It'll be a good thing in case Merizan's forces decide to come back.

Image IPB: Aww...

Image IPB: It's not all bad. Because we have the modders here willing to fund and Kickstart our campaign of liberation, we can afford some new toys.

Image IPB: Sweet! Whatchya getting us?

Jimmy prints out the order form for all to see.

Image IPB

Image IPBImage IPB: Dibs on the Steyr AUG!

Image IPB: I've already allocated everyone their weapons. Billy, you get the Steyr AUG.

Image IPB: YUS! I AM THE KING.

Image IPB: ಥ_ಥ

Image IPB: Kloie, you get the SKS. It's a bolt action rifle. We'll buy some extras later and get you a scope for it too, okay?

Image IPB: What do I get?

Image IPB: You'll be getting the Mini-Uzi and the smoke grenades. Vette, you'll be getting the full-size Uzi and Ka-

Image IPB: Wait, why don't I get the full-size Uzi? Why does Vette get it?

Image IPB: Because YOUR MOTHER likes it full-size :>

Image IPB: ...

Image IPB: ... Anyway, Kallia and I will be taking the Rugers. Okay, so everybody clear on what to do? Good, dismissed.

The team disperses with the knowledge of their new roles for now.

Image IPB

Jimmy, Kallia, Vette and Billy all take turns at training local militia for the Dragon Age: Origins subforums while Kloie practices her marksmanship and Celrath spends his time doing maintenance and fixing everyone else's equipment. Ira is called over from the Off-Topic Zone to assist the team in any way, she was glad at least to be doing something.

The day passes by without any major interruptions and even though their work keeps them up late into the night, the team is able to get a full night's sleep without another battle.

...

As their duties resume again the next morning, the team receives an email at 11:00 am.

Image IPB

After reading it, Jimmy sends Ira to pick up the cargo. She heads over to Pablo who oversees these sorts of shipments.

Image IPB

Image IPB

Ira messages Jimmy about it and within a few minutes, the entire team arrives to inspect their order.

Image IPB

Image IPB: Hmm... no Smoke Grenades, and missing a Med Kit. Looks like you'll have to make do, Celrath, Kallianira.

Image IPB: ughh...

As the team begins to arm themselves with their new equipment, another message arrives. It seems as if the priest had started sending supplies over to Allan and the rebels.

Image IPB: Back to the Off-Topic Zone, then?

Image IPB: Nope, not all of us. We've still got work to do here.

Image IPB: So, will you be sending Ira back?

Image IPB: She still could be useful for us here. Kallia, Kloie.

The two women turn their attention to Jimmy.

Image IPB: I want you to go on behalf of the team and meet up with Allan. Inform him of the situation here, see if he can help us, or if has any other missions for us, okay?

Image IPB: Why us?

Image IPB: You two are a good combination. Kloie can hit people from long range, while you can patch her up if she gets hit. Plus, your aim isn't bad either. If more of us come along, we might get spotted, and we still all have work to do here.

Image IPB: Sounds legit. Let's get going, Kallia.

Image IPB: Yeah, sure. Lead the way.

The two women leave the Dragon Age: Origins subforums, and like Jimmy had hoped, weren't spotted at all on the way back to the ruins of the Off-Topic Zone.

Image IPB

They quickly find the basement where Allan and the other rebels had been hiding, and inform him of the situation at the Dragon Age: Origins subforums.

Some of the supplies had already started arriving, Kloie and Kallia learned, and Allan was so pleased, he would allow his sleepy lieutenant Dimitri to join the team. Both Kloie and Carlos especially questioned Allan's decision, but the rebel leader was adamant.

Image IPB

Although Dimitri wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, Kallia and Kloie were glad to have him on board. The trio leave Allan and the rebel base in good spirits, eager to continue their good work.

Image IPB

It isn't until they contact Jimmy to give him the good news, that they discover the grim truth.

Image IPB

The Off-Topic Zone was under attack. Half of the place was already controlled by Merizan's forces. Likely a deadly Sports Spam barrage. It was altogether possible that Allan had planned to make a last stand in their bunker. The team's hard work and the dreams of the innocent BSN populace would be all for naught if that were to eventuate.

Fortunately, Merizan's forces had not yet mounted an attack on the rebel base, but it would only be a matter of time as they would be able to re-consolidate their grip on the Off-Topic Zone without opposition.

Kloie considers heading back immediately, and Dimitri fervently argues the point now that he's realised Allan sent him away to protect him. But Jimmy holds firm.

Image IPB: No, you three get back here and we'll liberate the Off-Topic Zone as a group. You don't stand a chance if you go with just the three of you.

Hours pass as the trio make their trek back to the Off-Topic Zone. Arriving in the early hours of the evening, Dimitri is introduced to the other team members and is quickly given support roles with Ira in maintaining a standing force in the Dragon Age: Origins subforums.

The team isn't able to launch their expedition until the afternoon on the next day and the Off-Topic Zone faces a full day of persecution before finally, the team arrives on the scene.

Image IPB

Image IPB: We're here to kick ass and chew bubblegum.

Image IPB: And we're all out of bubblegum.

I'm loving the flow so far, lots of good stuff. Although I was a little surprised that the new characters you've been introducing haven't also been fellow BSN'ers? I realize you can't name characters in game that aren't part of the group, it could be theoretically possible to photoshop that text in (although that could be a lot of work if they get involved in combat, so I can understand you not wanting to start the trend).

As always, keep it going!

Exactly that, I'd have to photoshop every screenshot with their name on it, from the combat screens to the tactical map screens, etc. Not worth the effort. Though I have been looking at the merc lists to see if there are enough similarities to make a case for hiring but there's only one who could possibly fit the bill.

I also considered just setting the number of creatable Mercs to unlimited, but I've read having more than 6 can get very buggy (like, can't progress the game level buggy) unless you do some modding/editing. Didn't want to do that on my first playthrough.

I may eventually do something like that, but it's so much easier if I don't have to open up photoshop for almost every picture to change a name or two.

Crusty the easy route to have not more than 6 mercs and new ones, is to kill one of them. A bit harsh, but the first descripion mentioned something like that. With all these fights from the group, you never know.

I wuv them all, but some are replaceable.

Haha, once I chose to limit creatable mercs to 6, that was my intention. I'll probably only introduce new BSN characters to replace dead ones.

That's totally fair and something I really started thinking about even as I was typing my last comment. I suppose you could always have the name on the screen be different than what you type in the narration part...? Like 'Oh, yes, my name is Dimitri... but all of my friends call me Alliance Commander.'

Sorry, just trying to give some ideas, definitely not wanting to sound like I'm giving orders or requirements. It's just the inherent problem solver in me.

However, they receive grim news about the Off-Topic Zone where Allan and his rebel forces have been using as fortress. Half of Off-Topic has been taken over by Merizan's loyalists. The team makes their way back to the Off-Topic Zone, to liberate it once again.

Chapter 9:

Image IPB: Okay, so guys, what we're going to do this tim-

Image IPB

Image IPB

Image IPB: Dead.

Image IPB: No! You'll alert them to our position!

Image IPB

Billy's gunshot and the dead body attract the attention of one other loyalist in the area. It wasn't long before other loyalists become alerted to the team's presence, either.

Kallia spots a soldier and takes him out before he could react.

Image IPB: Hey guys, I think there's more loya-

Image IPB

Celrath goes down before he's able to finish. He falls to the ground, limp and devoid of movement. He starts bleeding profusely from the large wound on the side of his head.

Image IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB: Celrath!!

Image IPB: Sh*t sh*t sh*t! This is exactly what I wanted to avoid! Kallia, get to him now!

Image IPB: Got it! ... Oh man, this is bad... Cel is at death's door...

Image IPB: Billy, Kloie, did you see the shooter?!

Image IPB: No, I haven't se-

Image IPB: I found him!

Image IPB

Image IPB: Rat bastard.

Image IPB: Got another one in my sights, stay down everyone!

Image IPB

Kallia races against the clock to save Celrath.

She manages to perform an on-field battle surgery and cauterizes his wound. While Celrath is still unresponsive, at least he won't die from his wounds or blood loss. She also injects the engineer with powerful drugs to help him regain consciousness and vitality: until the battle was over, Celrath would be a liability for the team if he were to unable to move or defend himself.

Jimmy begins to formulate a plan for a tactical withdrawal, their position would soon be overwhelmed. But while they wait for Celrath to regain consciousness, several of Merizan's loyalists start firing at the team.

Vette stands up, and walks calmly towards the loyalists, despite being fired at. She whips out her Uzi and pulls the trigger, holding it down until the clip is emptied.

Image IPB: Hey ****s, eat this!

Jimmy, Kloie and Billy also take aim and shoot at the loyalists' position, hoping to provide Vette with cover fire.

It wasn't necessary.

Image IPB

Vette's Uzi makes short work of the loyalists still remaining in the area.

The brief firefight gives Celrath enough time to wake up.

Image IPB: Eugh....

Image IPB: Fantastic! You're okay!

Celrath of course, wasn't really "okay" but the fact that he was alive and awake instead of dead certainly meant that Jimmy's comments were close enough.

Image IPB: Okay, we're moving out! Help Cel up, we're going to hunt these fvckers down.

Image IPB

The team make their way through the Off-Topic Zone, weaving their way through the rubble that used to be the homes of the posters here.

Image IPB

Image IPB: Hmm... a sandbag fortification.

Image IPB: Isn't it a bit "convenient" for a sandbag fortification to be setup like this?

Image IPB: Not at all, Kallia. Some of the posters must've made their last stand here... c'mon, let's get Celrath behind this thing. At least he might get some res-

Image IPB: Get down!

Image IPB

As the loyalist bleeds out, helpless, the team hears footsteps moving away from their sandbag fortification.

Image IPB

Image IPB: We've got 'em on the run, guys! Let's finish this!

The team continues their sweep of the area, now that the loyalists were actively fleeing the scene, there was no point in bunkering down.

They catch several stragglers.

Image IPB

Image IPB

It isn't long until the final enemy hostile goes down, either. He had hoped that his own sandbag fortification would help hide and protect him from the team, but it was a naive hope.

Image IPB

Image IPB: So, what are we going to do now?

Image IPB: Celrath still needs medical attention. The drugs will wear off soon and he needs further treatment, and a lot of rest.

Image IPB: We're heading back to the Dragon Age: Origins subforums. We'll carry Celrath along by stretcher and just pray we don't get ambushed by any of Merizan's loyalists.

Image IPB: Alright, I'll help get him on it. Now, lift up your legs Celrath. Vette, help me out for a sec.

Image IPB: Yeah, okay... this takes me back.

Image IPB: Huh?

Image IPB: Lifting up legs, stacks of blood, lots of groaning. Celrath is just like his MOTHER. Good times.

Image IPB: ...... eugh.... you bleep.....

Image IPBImage IPBImage IPBImage IPB: ....................

The team make their way back to the Dragon Age: Origins subforums, and like Jimmy had hoped, they do so without further incident.

The journey takes a long time however, and when they arrive back at the DA:O subforums, they find that it was far too late to plan, prepare, or carry out their given tasks of training the locals.

They join Ira and Dimitri for some well earned sleep.

Image IPB

...

The team awakes from their slumber, refreshed. Although Celrath wasn't back to full health, Kallia's work did wonders as he was healthy enough to join the team in their late morning training exercises.

After a modest lunch break, Jimmy calls the team over. Jimmy and Billy place maps and documents on a large table and they begin to layout their next plan.

Image IPB: We have a strong foothold here in the Dragon Age: Origins subforums, and now that we have trained more militia, their patrols can now defend the Off-Topic Zone by themselves if need be. We need to press the attack and keep our momentum.

Image IPB: Sounds good, but where are we headed to first?

Image IPB: There are a variety of places we can attack, but there's one spot in particular which I think would be advantageous for us. The Dragon Age 3 subforums. It's front and center of the BSN, and losing it would be a tremendous blow to Merizan if we stormed it and made it our own. That's our next move.

Image IPB: So, there you have it. Pack your gear, everyone. We've got a forum to capture.

Lol. I'd like to post something, but not if it's the last post on the page. People would easily miss or skip it accidentally.
