Bought the game for the SP, stayed for the MP. Can't remember the last time I loaded a SP game, which says a lot for the MP Development team.
I second this sentiment.
Mass Effect 3 was a great conclusion to the trilogy. The tie-in between multiplayer and singleplayer is what got me to consider trying the multiplayer - I wanted my 100% readiness and I wanted as many War Assets as I could get. (As a point of fact, at this time my N7 War Assets are just about enough to give me the best ending right away, without seeking out any extra War Assets throughout the game - though of course I do so anyways. Still hunting for the War Assets value that gives me a Good chance of victory instead of Even.)
But the fact is, aside from plot-relevant DLC like the forthcoming Omega, once you finish the single-player campaign it has limited replay value. It's a good story, still, but it's not a new story anymore - and like reading a book you've read before, it's not something you'll necessarily leap to right away.
Multiplayer, however, by its nature has a great amount of replay value. Instead of one character to level up you have dozens to experiment with. Unless you play with the same group of friends all the time, you'll almost always have different allies - and your allies in this case are actually fully sentient self-aware
people instead of AIs that need to be ordered around all the time. And sure it can be frustrating when they make bad decisions but they're making decisions, which keeps things far more interesting (for better or worse.)
I'm going to phrase my complement for Mass Effect 3's multiplayer in the form of a complaint: Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer has prevented me from progressing past level 10 in Borderlands 2, has prevented me from finishing Assassin's Creed 1 (and by extention 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations), Halo 2, 3, and ODST, and (because I play it on XBox) has prevented me from even looking at sales on the Steam and Origin stores on my computer.
I have some 350-odd games on Steam. The last time I spent more than fifteen minutes on one of them was June. I got ME3 in June.
Job well done, Bioware.
