I would take that bet, if I had any inclination that I'll still remember this conversation after the game has been released.

I am disappointed and said yes. Very bad if not elves.

I don't really understand the point of this. Is it just curiosity? Another way to discuss the topic outside of the thread already devoted to it? The results most likely (have to put that caveat in there) won't change anything, assuming that they are what some people want to see from such a poll.

This poll is horribly flawed.

I'm dissapointed that I won't be able to play a dwarf.
But I'm okay with it, because it means they can focus more tightly on character development.

Flawed in a sense that they don't coincide with the consensus you assumed was true?
It's a rather neutral question.

Flawed in the sense that the poll provides meaningless data. With a simple "Are you dissapointed? Yes/No", you have learned nothing. Perhaps a better question would have been "Rate your dissapointment on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being very dissapointed, 1 being happy with decision)". The binary yes/no doesn't tell the whole story. Hell, it barely tells even part of it.

Yepper, I agree.

I'm also in the dwarf camp, although my canon plays for both games are human. I really enjoy the dwarven lore and would wish to play as one in a future game.

That said, I did vote "No" because "disappointment" seems too severe a world for my feeling on it. I feel that it was unfortunate since it's an option that I would like, but I had no expectation that there would be multi-race selection to warrant disappointment.

I hope the backgrounds will make up for it. Or, at least, the giant scorpion mounts.

If you REALLY want one of those, they have them in WoW. :D

I would be playing it as a human anyway so I'm not too bothered.

That's assuming it receives positive reviews from trusted sources and I buy it! :D

i am think that it is not to hard for bioware to give us choose the elf race....especially the ex- circle mage/son of the tevinter magister(elf magister), or Orleas/Ferelden city elf.....just thinking....

1)the elf are universal like humans, they can be....rogue/warrior/mage....

2)the elf's(expecially city elf's) are numerous in tedas....and this is also they war(unlike the dwarves(i like them, but still...) who can not even be the mage or the templar(the lirium has no effect of them...except madnes if it's red lirium)

3)if the inquisition have options for be the mage....that means that inquisitor mages are ex-circle mages...and we knows that that would be the elf's

4)if Templars separated from the Chantry, they confront mages and daemons massively invade to Tedas....Why they(and inqusitors) should not take non-mage elf's warriors/rogue-assasins who really believe in Maker, and wants to stop the "evil" mages and demons?....

5)the many elf's of thedas has a real political/social influence, for example..the elf's Gray Wardens(especially knight-commanders like Fiona and the others)....the elf's first enchanters.....the elf's magisters of tevinter empire.....the elf's slave traders(like Devera in DA;O).....

6)if the hero would be the elf....I do not think it will take another actor for the character voice acting....that both races voice is almost identical(of course they identical...the actors are human), except for some accent, and if the elf from alianage/circle(any non-dalish)...then he should not have accent

Just curious to see poll results on this. Unsure if this BBcode even works, but here we go. Also, refer to the following thread to discuss your feelings on having a human protag.

Also, this poll can be advertised to your social networks. DA fans do not have to be forum users to vote. Make sure to post it elsewhere to widen the population of votes.

In DA3, the protagonist will be human only. Are you disappointed?

Don't know why you don't use the in-site polls but okay..

No, it doesn't bother me at all. I never play non-Human characters anyways.

Not even slightly disappointed. I'll always pick quality over quantity. I do not, of course, consider elves and dwarves to be of lesser "quality", but human only means that Bioware will have more time to polish the content that they do add to the game.

No. I like being human. And actually race choice does not bother me at all. I'd be fine playing a dwarf as long as the story is great.

I'm pretty devastated that they are going to make it a human protag. so many people wanted to play other races. Its complete b.s. that they ignore all their fan's wants for the racial choice to come back. Playing as a human is boring, elves are much more unique and interesting.

Nice necro, and funny as well. Elves are unique, yeah... been there , done that. In fact they are nothing but copy+paste from Witcher books.

I could agree that Qunari might be interesting, but DA universe could do well without elves or dwarfs. Bioware should put some more thought in the matter of races, and don't reused the cliche ones in the first place.

Hmm, i've always that thought that the elves and especially dwarves were more unique in this franchise than others. I am not talking about superficial uniqueness but rather cultures uniqueness. I might be wrong though, don't read much fantasy anymore.

I like the fact that despite the massive outcry the human only PC caused here on the BSN, the results are at 50/50 after more than 500 votes. "Probably not that big deal" seem to be the new majority.

Ok. Right now I know DA3 is not true to the lore if blood-mages are allow to be Inquisitors.. can you believe that? meh
Lets see how bad it gets for the lore after this.

I've never played through Origins as anything other than a human. Even if I did prefer playing as a different race the decision to make us play a human character wouldn't upset me. I'd prefer that they develop the one race very well rather than give us 6 that are practically the same. The total affect of picking your race in Origins resulted in random npc's making a remark such as "You're an elf" every now and then.

That is only if we assume that this Inquisition is the same as before or that something like, you know, a World War wouldn't justify strange alliances.

In-topic: I've always played a human in DAO, anyway. It doesn't bother me at al..

Well, I think it's logical to question why a pro-mage apostate protagonist would be a member of an organization that is named after an arguably anti-mage organization.

It depends on what this Inquisition is like. If it's like the Imperial Inquisition in Warhammer 40k then it exists to ensure the survival of their nation. Considering that there's mage rebellions, rogue templars, and all manner of chaos in Thedas loyal magic users are way too useful to keep locked up.

There might also be background options for your character. For instance a mage Inquisitor could be a loyal member of the Circle who was offered to join, or an apostate who was offered the chance to serve in the Inquisition instead of being sent to the Circle.

This poll seems a little well, useless since the devs decided long ago that a single race would be it and there is no changing it.

The arguement 'we are letting the devs know we dont like it' doesnt work either since by the time work begins on DA4 they will have forgotton about this thread.

But anyway I am dissapointed, but it is not a huge deal to me.

they should give us at least +one more  race to  choose .... I think the easiest way for this would be to give the elf race(for many reasons) ...

ehh, I would like to play a Tevinter side kossind-saerabas blood-battle mage who would destroy Chantry and become Archont(or at least a Magister Commander-General)

...but unfortunately I'm sure(I still hope that I am mistaken) that we cant do this stuff or something similar in DA 3... another damn Hawk / Shepard 2.0, just "wonderful"<_<

These black and white polls are quite biased in their wording.

Am I disappointed? No. Because I expected it would be this way after DA2 for quite some time, if not forever.

Do I like it? Not at all. But I'd never say I expected it, so its hardly disappointing. That's where Bioware has gotten with their games for me - my expectations are now really low, so even the smallest crumbs from the table I'm being surprised by.

With DA3, we haven't gotten many crumbs yet.

After DA2, I think Bioware is going for the more cinematic JRPG style RPG, so I'm not really surprised we are getting much choices in things.
