THIS GAME IS REALLY GETTING UNPLAYABLE

It used to be that as soon as you got your health or shield up a little bit after reaching the gate it would stop another high damage hit, like if you had your shield taken down with one prime shot, then popped back up after it regenerated a small fraction and you got hit by it again, it would just go to gate and you could repeat that as often as you wanted. This was especially noticeable when using shield power cells. Now it ends up getting past that from the second shot due to the gating delay which was never there before, making shield power cells nowhere near as useful as they were before. I have been trying to work around that by keeping in mind the four second delay before the gate kicks in again, but that just gives you more time to get attacked from another direction and taken out anyways, and even being super paranoid won't give you perfect situational awareness.
On top of that there's the b.s. spawning where stuff will spawn practically on top of me mere seconds after either clearing an area or looking in the area very close to me (more noticeable in smaller maps with lots of walls you can go around both ways like Jade), seeing that it's clear, then turning back toward there a few seconds later and getting murdered if I can't get to cover quickly enough. This never used to happen before.
I almost never had to use medi-gel before and now I am running pretty low, I usually have over 150 but I've had to burn through them a lot more quickly because of the gating crap. It especially sucks when I use the Fury, I go down WAY more than before.
The new units and the collectors in general I don't have too much of a problem with but they do need adjustment, including how many of the boss units spawn at once (I'm at 99% for the collectors challenge, so yeah.). The main problem is the gating mechanics, and I don't know if that can be changed in a balance change or not, guess we'll find out.
Telling me or anyone really to "go back to bronze" or "get better" is seriously oversimplifying the problems here, and many times it's said in a condescending way. Surely nobody would tell someone with a manifest and playing time/matches like mine to go back to bronze? In games I play where the player skill is more balanced, I and others get around 60,000-70,000 points each; when two or three of them aren't that great I end up with 90,000-100,000+, depending on how many spawns I missile, which I usually don't do unless it's a priority target wave or I'm trying to save someone or clear a path for the pizza delivery because I get more enjoyment from taking them out the normal way. I'm not godly and have some difficulty carrying waves, but I think I'm pretty familiar with how everything works. I have been scoring about the same before and after the patch, but now I end up using a lot more medi-gel and ops packs and have been getting more frustrated overall and I am not having as much fun.

If they've to spend money on JEP they won't have money to buy the packs that really matter to their progress, soon they will get tired and: a)farm, b)get in gold games not prepared, c) quit. This isn't good for ME3 MP.

Keep believing what you want, but even with 2 really bad players I can still make it to extraction on Gold against any enemy except maybe Collectors. The players hoarding consumables are a major problem with this game as well as players that don't know the first thing about power synergy and working as a team.

I havent had an extraction on gold in a week!!???!?!
WTF happened???
I'm still playing the same....but all of a suddon everything is rediculously difficult!!
What is the deal with the dragoons???
On gold they give ya a bakers dozen at a time and you cannot outrun them even with a adrenaline amp
^(lil exaggeration there but they are very plentiful and very fast with no regard for themselves or cover)
A couple weeks ago I was having fun on gold, it was plenty difficult, but still fun.
Now silver is a chore....
Why was the game changed???
why do people complain about game difficulty???
that is why there are 4 levels of difficulty. play the one that is fun for you. some people will find platinum easy and some will find bronze hard. everyone is a diferent skill level. thats just the way it is and that won't change ever. IF silver is hard play bronze instead. whats the big deal?
The big deal? Collectors on bronze at least = if not surpass cerberus on silver for difficulty. some of you people (And I mean the very best players) have just totally lost sight of any levels below where they normally play. The old adage of 'just play a level lower' is tough to swallow when that means 1/2 the credits, more use of consummables and thus the gap between good and medium players ever widening.
Previously a medium player could go to bronze, play games, get their 16,000 credits and use zero or one consummable in a match. Now in some cases you need to use some consummables depending on the opponent and in a bad game use a lot of them.
There is no problem for really good players. The problems are for really new players and 'on the dividing line' players. Those that were bronze and some silver or silver and some gold.
Now they have been chucked down to bronze....and silver.
If the reward isn't as good as what you are used to and that is your only reason then you are playing for the grind not for fun. If it isn't fun why play? if you are having fun why does the reward matter? isn't the fun itself a reward? So what if you have to use a gel or something, so what if you have to step down a level. If they made a new diamond difficulty for 250k credits and i felt i wasn't good enough to play it i would just not play it. I wouldn't complain that some people are making more then me by playing diamond and i'm stuck on platinum. etc etc. I don't even play platinum too often. PUGs are horrible and i won't play a platinum that i have to solo every wave. I'll do it on gold but i have friends who are better and or equal players i am that won't even do a PUG gold , they'll only do silver cuase they don't liek having to solo half the waves in a gold match. So its only worth playing high difficulties with friends.
The point is the system isn't broken. rarely do i ever find a broken sysem, the broken part is always the people using the system. people feel they are entitiled to eveyrthing for free, have no patience, and don't want to work for anything. they always take the path thats the easiest. I understand everyone is limited to a point. I know there are players out there that i'll never be as good as, as well as players out there taht will never be as good as me. Thats part of eveyrhting. It would be like (sports reference coming through) mark sanchez complaining the NFL is too hard and brady is complaining its too easy so sanchez wants the rules changed to make the game eaiser for him but if they did that it might be soo easy for brady that he gets bored and quits lol
The point is they cna't taylor it for eveyrone. that is why there is different difficulties. pick the one that is teh most fun and forget about credits and unlocks
upinya,
I understand where you're comming from, but the point is that there is something very broken on Bronze and Silver at the moment. You probably haven't experienced it because you don't play on these difficulties.
My friends and I are now playing Bronze and Silver to get some challenges done and we've seen some strange things happen.
It seems that once in a time the difficulty goes straight up. We've seen over 15 Cerberus enemies at one time during a hack on Hydra on Bronze.
We've seen Unlimited Scions during the extraction on Godess on Bronze (everyone we killed was immediatly replaced by another one).
We've seen 4 Dragoons together with 2 Phantoms during a hack on White on Silver, immediatly replaced by the same combination after killing the former group.
This doesn't happen every game, but every now and then it just happens and all of a sudden you find yourself on Gold difficulty, without consumables equipped and with a character you're not used to play with.

I know what your saying. And i'll just take it as the truth since i have no idea. But i still don't get why it is an issue other then less credits. and I don't see why credits are such a big deal?
Enjoyment is a big factor. There is absoluely no leisurely game play at all for the lower end player. You are fighting for your life in every game vs the collectors.
Credits? How many credits can you earn from a night of playing 8 games. Then calclate the number of creds a person earns on bronze. Now on bronze and silver you can, by playing alot still have a decent manifest but alot of it depends on how many consummables you have to use up. I can stick to my silver and bronze and still make progress on my weapons and such if I am not using up a lot of consumables. Once the level of difficulty goes uto to where I have to use a number of consummables each match I have less to get the weapons and gear up.
You think there was a 'carrying' problem before? with no farming and the increased difficulty of the lwoer levels you will have more player with no business being in gold and plat going there. It's the new economy.
In the end they really do not have to nerf the enemies defense and offense wise themselves at all, even for Bronze. All they need to do is spawn one scion rather than two and either slow down the praetorians or make sure the bosses spawn further away after they have been killed.
the thing that decimates the lower levels is if they put down the two sicons and the Praet and instantly more spawn and are already in attack range.
The thing is BW said that it somehow made bronze and silver harder and they are looking into it and will fix it. And nobody is complaining about that. but again it goes back to people being upset that they can't unlock things as fast as they used to. my response is so what? enjoy the game and have fun. But the impatient people rin it for eveyrone. If you odn't want a challenge and you want eveyrhting play SP. there are more wepons in teh game, you get them all free, you can put it on easy mode and wipe out enemies while feeling like a god. If thats what people want then they should play SP instead. MP takes some real skill on higher levels taht not everyone will posess. i'm far from teh best player out there and i'm ok with that. I don't care about my challenge rating nor my N7 rating. i Did go for the lone wolf and got it but its becuase it gave me a challenge and was something fun to do. I don't solo often. I used the striker and loved it. been a while since i used it. but i'm not gonna take an avenger into a gold game lol.
It seems you are agreeing its the people not to system, which is good. So basically what people don't realize is we can fix eveyrthing our selves with our behavior. BW doesn't need to fix anything. I hope they don't change collectors. they are just what i wanted. tough but not cheap.
No it is the system. The quality of players has not changed at all. People are not worse, the game is much tougher. I'll repeat the system was very good before the changes. Now they are very skewed. I also hope they do nothing to the collectors on gold and plat and i hope they do nothing to the collecotrs abilites on the lower levels, just remove one critter from teh spanw budget, slow another down and make sure they don't spawn into instant attack range.
The quality of players hasn't changed, i agre however you are assuming the quality was good before. It wasn't overall. I oculd play 100 PUGs in gold and maybe at best 3-4 players i would find were actually capable gold players. its sad. The reason people didn't complain as much is becuase they resorted to cheap atctics to explaiot the AI and wierd glicthes. like the FBW counters or teh glacier room of shame. doing things like that allowe peole who wouldn't be able to normally play on gold be able to beat a gold match relatively easily. the chages were made to make people stop exploiting 1 chokepoint on a map and make them move around from cover to cover. It didn't make the game hard. It would be like saying the magnet grab fix made teh game easier. did it? yeah to a point but it really just fixed an expliot that was screwing over players, now they fixed an exploit that was screwing over the AI as well.
The game isn't any tougher for people who didn't need to resort to cheap tactics and expliot the AI. The players who were playing on difficulties above their skill and equipment by explioting the AI were the only ones effected.

no i don't play them much but i did do 3 solo silvers and 5 solo bronze post patch for the lone wolf and another solo bronze for the com pack a few days ago. I had no issue soloing the objectives. I did my solo's against all 4 factioins too. I dind't notice alot of enemies during hacks

it's not tougher for SOME characters but for others, like my favorites I find it can be. I rather just play with ONLY humans and really only 3 of them. I hate all the other characters and dislike all the aliens. So while I could solo everything with a Krogan or Destroyer or the Turian and some others, I really can't solo even duo well in a fun (keyword) way with some of the weaker stuff, that I find more fun to play than the easy characters using the obvious good weapons.

People were literally farming platinum. Why would you pay to buy packs if you could just do a quick platinum and get one for free?
People still farm platinum, it's really not that difficult. If your team has a sound understanding of the game and class mechanics, spawn points, and has a halfway decent aim, you should roll through Platinum just fine, barring any cheap instgibs.
I've only been a victim of magnet hands once since Retaliation, and it was really my fault, I only got pulled from a few feet away.
The most difficult part of Platinum are the Scions...and not because they're that hard to take down, because they're not...just because of the absolutely absurd damage they can do. A Possessed Scion can take down an entire squad in two seconds flat.
As long as your team is all on the same page about the kill priorities, uses proper equipment, and burns consumables at the proper times, you'll be just fine.
Just the other day I was in a Platinum match with a good team...scores were 157k (me, demolisher), 153k (infiltrator), 135k (infiltrator), 133k (soldier). Easily the highest scoring game I've ever seen personally...and it was exceptionally smooth, because everyone knew what they were doing.
Play long enough and you'll eventually find people good enough that you can develop a good Platinum squad.
I love doing three Platinum runs and then noticing, "Oh hey...I have over 500k credits...nice..."

Players who have a very aggressive style have probably found the change easier, but I have quite a passive style. I've respecced a number of Characters for extra damage and shields, and this is working quite well.
My go-to AV was always good on Silver but post DLC she kept bleeding out. She's now specced for damage in all areas, and working much better.
Tip: For Dragoons - Shoot - Charge - Shoot - Charge repeat. Of course when you get a heard of them it gets tricky, but that's what the team's for.
I suggest you go back to Bronze for some practice, and try revising some of your Characters and tactics.

I'd like to make a point here...
I'm 24 years old, and I do live with my parents...but that is where the stereotype ends.
...I work 3 jobs for a combined total of 50+ hours a week.
...I'm a college student (currently part-time due to scheduling conflicts, full-time next semester).
...I'm very, very physically fit. I'd post a picture but 1) that's kind of creepy and 2) people usually call bs anyway. I'm currently out of commission for a knee injury, but when I was in shape I could bench press 265lbs for reps...yet still be aerobically fit enough to run a 4:30 mile. My resting pulse is currently in the neighborhood of 38-42, if that means anything to you.
...I recently broke up with my girlfriend, but I'm seeing someone else already. We go out together every weekend, barring scheduling conflicts.
...I train in the Philipino art of Sayoc Kali weekly, though I've been too busy the past two weeks.
Now, why am I not allowed to simply be good at video games? Just because fighting the Collectors on Gold doesn't present too much of a challenge to myself and my team, I'm a stereotypical shut-in with no life? Get over yourself.
@ForTuchanka: even after writing all that, I'm still laughing at your post hahahaha
EDIT: I live at home because it's 5 minutes from each of my two job locations and 20 minutes from school. Why would I spend my hard-earned money on my own place when it won't be any more convenient (probably less so, in fact), and will certainly not be cheap? I can live here for free!

I don't frankly care what someone's out of video game life consists of as it has no real bearing on their skills in a game most of the time... I do have a problem with people who are so insecure about their own skills at a hobby like videogaming that they feel the need to insult and stereotype people who happen to push colored buttons better than they do to make up for it (like the guy I quoted did). There was meant to be some humor mixed in with the righteous indignation of the post so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Have you ever considerd, I don't know, trying to change along with the changes in the game? You know, develop new strategies and playstyles and such or studying up on enemies to figure our their patterns and weaknesses and adding that into your playstyle.
Or you could just do the same thing over and over, ignore the changes, and demand the game devolve and go back to stagnation. That works too.
