I was just wondering, do any authors ever think they might put a play through of their modules on youtube?
Some of the classic RPGs that are captured and posted out there are fun to watch, some are even very well done with the player's commentary. Besides, there are NWN2 modules/campaigns that are on the same level of AAA titles, so why not put them out there?
I know builders have used youtube to showcase features or other fancy stuff thay are experimenting with. What I'm talking about is a completed adventure and a video playthrough for others to watch.
Any interest?

Would there be an audience for that? I mean I understand there are people who watch Let's Play for a game, but for custom adventures?
I'm pretty sure I could expand the PoE trivia text document on it's vault page into a more "directors track" quicker.
No sure I would want to spend the time to play my own work again after all the playtests.

I'm doing a LP of my PW and only for the sole purpose of that it's fun to do. I don't care if anyone watches my videos but it's fun to capture the chatter (and go back and hear & see it again later) between me and someone else as we delve into some dungeons.
For my How To videos I've done already, its really the same sort of reason. If no one watches, oh well, it's still handy for me to review what I was thinking at the time.
If anyone wants to do an LP of a multi-player module, I'd be down with that.
Cheers,
M

I'm not sure how large an audience, but I think there are custom adventures that are as good as some professional releases. I know I would watch a Let's Play of some of the better NWN2 modules.
But I do understand the point about a builder not wanting to sit down for a complete play through of their own work, and have to do narration.
Although traditionally, it's the fans of these games who put together a Let's Play video. Maybe that's a little nudge if someone out there is motivated enough. Since this is not likely to happen, here's a better question. As a builder, would you be interested in seeing someone do a LP of Path of Evil, for example?

I have no idea. Maybe? Path of Evil is pretty long.Dorateen wrote...

I don't plan to do a Let's Play, but I do plan to put up a trailer, and I wish more people would do that. But either one would be very welcome in my opinion. I think in general there aren't enough Neverwinter Nights videos available to watch on Youtube or elsewhere, and I personally think that trailers or other gameplay videos and reviews would do a better job than screenshots of helping me decide which module to play next.

I don't even know how to make a video so I'm out and my modules are rather large anyway. So I'll just carry on with what I like doing without the "bells and whistles."
ps. I like the idea that people can post their own screenshots on the nexus to add to your mod's ones and I put an invite to feel free to do so on mine but nobody's taken me up on it so I think a player made video is a bit unlikely to say the least.

There are hundreds of Let's Play videos for Minecraft, Oblivion, and Skyrim and 95% of those are for custom content. I bet if the NWN2 community did some people would watch them.
I'm suprised I don't see much of this for the NWN 1&2 community.

I'm not sure about others, but I uploaded a couple play-throughs for my NWN2 Nihil Trilogy:
Chapter 1: (includes everything, but the ending)
Chapter 2: (includes the first half)
As for the process, I taped them with 'Fraps' and edited(mostly length-wise) with 'Windows Movie Maker.' For those interested 'Adobe Premier' is the better option or for Macs 'Final Cut'. Then uploaded them one by one onto Youtube.
