We know we won't be one, but some pretty cocept art of the Dalish Aravels has been released and I just thought I wanted to throw the question about them in there.
What will their role be? What will the inqusition mean to them do you suppose, what will their role be in the mage/templar war and the civil war in Orlais?

I suspect the Dalish won't give two s**ts about the Mage-Templar war unless the templars march up to some clan and demand they hand over their Keeper. (They'll probably also resist any attempts by the mages to get involved.)
Now, if the PC is hunting down ancient lore, I suspect they'll come into contact with the Dalish at some point. That concept art with the aravels seems to support that.

As for their role in the story? Well, one of the major leaders of the Mage uprising, Fiona, is an elf. So there's that.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Dailish serve much the same role as they did in Origins. That is, as a potential alley that the PC can recruit to their cause.

Something with the Dales (the territory).
Dalish elf for a rogue companion or city elf for camp cook. (If I remember correctly, city elves are not allowed to have weapons)

Hopefully, the Dalish will play a role in Inquisition. I'm wondering why some of the Dalish clans wouldn't consider trying to reclaim their lost nation, with Orlais in the middle of a civil war, and Andrastian society dealing with the Templar-Mage War. Like when the Forsworn used the Empire's war with the Thalmor to reclaim the Reach (in Skyrim).

Templars war on mages will target all Keepers too, and now they are not bound to cities to protect Chantrys and Circles, they will have the freedom to hunt them down.
I'd imagine they will throw in their lot with the Mages at the request/aid/convincing of the PC.

Though the PC will have to find something related to the ancient ages, the dalish might be useful. The same goes for the Tevinter.

It would be extremely stupid for the templars to add the dalish to their enemies. The dalish would add to the mages both a front line to oppose the templars, and lethal archers. A elven clan was reputed important for the allied forces against the Blight. Having all the clans to their side will be a massive advantage to the mages.

I don't have a problem with that, unless it'll be forced on the player.

Personally I hope we get both city elves and dalish elves in some role or other.
Would be cool if we could unite a city's local elves with the nearest clan when aiding them.

I know Zevran only was half dalish but still, he's a crow instead. That's unique in another way. And Fenris was le slave.
Would be cool with a companion kina like the city elf origin, a street rar that just had a talent and trained in secret.

I could agree on having a city elf (though I find dalish more interesting), but Zevran was half-dalish only in blood. He was completely Antivan.
