Alright, so I have an issue...why else would I be here, no?:D

I got DA:O about a week ago and been banging through it at what I consider a reasonable pace and just got through with the Landsmeet (why couldn't I use Dog against Loghain?:(), so I was about out wandering the map finishing up side-quests that I wanted to do and what not.  Last night my neighbor came over and she was completely, utterly, obscenely drunk.  While she was in the middle of wrestling with me for the controller (I wanted to finish the boss I was fighting, she didn't want me to) she rolled off the couch into the Xbox, knocking it over.  Grinding sounds ensued and behold, my disc has two massive ruts around it.  Joy.:crying:

So, I'm gonna have to go out and replace it (obviously, I need to finish that boss).  My question is this:  What should I expect and should I take any precations ahead of time in regards to my save games and DLC?  Will I just be able to pop in the game and play?  Will I need to re-buy the DLC (Shale and Dragon Armor is easy of course) or will I be able to use my old ones?  Do I need to do some console magic and copy or relocate my save games in some manner?

Basically, would someone be kind enough to show some sympathy for me and hold my hand through these troubled times following in the wake of this difficult and traumatic experience?

A console game disc is a console game disc. No problems to change. Your DLC and saves is on your profile and HDD, not on the CD.

If the game had a patch you would have to clear the cache before putting in the new disc cos the patch usually gets tied the the disc originally used when it was downloaded(thats how it works in oblivion anyway) and you could end up with the game freezing on a black screen when starting.

.

But as the game has no patch you will probably have no problems.

before you buy it again, try getting it fixed at a local video or game store...it has worked for me in the past when i had a similar problem with a disk

Disc Doctors work pretty well and aren't to bad of an investment since you can fix other discs as well.
