"Crashed on Eden" - Guys, BioWare really does like Synthesis... *Updated* - Is Synthesis Supposed to be the Best Ending?

Yep, pretty much. I'm in a good place, considering. But I admit it must be harder for people who actually care about what happens to the Geth...GT Zazzerka wrote...

This is concept art from BioWare. It's called Crashed on Eden.
Here's the description:
"Some characters get to have their moment."
Yeah, Joker and EDI don't get this moment without Synthesis.
... Can it be any more obvious? Synthesis is their preferred ending.
I have to say synthesis looks better w/out the green "Children of the Damned" glowing eyes and "Tron" body effects.

While that's a cool idea, I'm pretty sure the scene we se depicts the Normandy inside a Relay corridor. The beam moves linearly behind them, and we can see the corridor collapsing behind them at the front of the beam (implying that the corridor is collapsing at the same speed as the speed of the beam [in the corridor's altered frame of reference]). If that's the case, then they really could be anywhere.DeinonSlayer wrote...
We see in the Extended Cut that they left Sol via FTL. In Mass Effect canon, there's only one garden world within FTL range - only one plausible destination. Alpha Centauri.leonia42 wrote...
Screw the debate over the preferred ending. What freaking planet are they on and, more importantly, why? What is the purpose of this scene? It's probably a metaphor, it might imply a "full circle" by ending up back at Eden Prime but.. WHY. What is the fraking signficance of it? Give me some context here, Bioware.
Search "Manswell Expedition" on Cerberus Daily News for details about the planet, and what happened there. Suffice to say, they're less than a single day's travel away from Earth at cruising FTL speed. It'll take a while to rebuild the relays (ten to fifteen years, I think they said at SDCC), but the Normandy can get back to Sol almost immediately.
*growls defensively*
hmmm...
Did they mention that what they landed on was a moon? Because the Eden planet clearly is.
Also, Alpha Centauri is a binary star system, and we only see one star on the Eden planet.

But seriously, screw synthesis
Boohoo, it must suck to be so upset over an ending that you don't like. I've never seen so much crying about something that is ultimately so trivial a thing in my entire life. If BW had hypothetically stated that either Destroy or Control were their preferred ending and wanted either of them to be canon...I would be okay with that, even though I'm opposed to destroying all synthetic life.
I think "screw ending <insert name here>" is about as much depth as most forumites can manage. *snort* Fortunately, I've lowered my expectations considerably and have learned that I shouldn't come here to read mature, equanimous posts anyway. If I ever find one in an ME3 thread these days, I might actually faint.

I'll make a short list off the top of my head:
1) The "Opera" vision "payoff" was: there happen to be some people standing next to Anders on a balcony. This vision was built up over pretty much the entire show for that?
2) A complete misunderstanding of "Mitochondrial Eve" on the writers' parts.
3) Cylon leader abruptly committing suicide because...? I don't know, I guess we were running out of air time?
4) The numbers/song as coordinates for our Earth? Really? Cheesy as hell. This is more of a taste thing I guess, but man it just didn't hit me as the revalatory payoff that the writers obviously thought it was.
