Think I need a hug you guys.

I've only been doing this speculation thing for two months.. if you've been going for eight..

Is this what I have to look forward to? :crying:

Yep, pretty much. I'm in a good place, considering. But I admit it must be harder for people who actually care about what happens to the Geth...

We need t-shirts that say something like:

"I spent over a 100 hours playing the ME trilogy and all I got was this picture of EDI and Joker"

This is concept art from BioWare. It's called Crashed on Eden.

Here's the description:

"Some characters get to have their moment."

Yeah, Joker and EDI don't get this moment without Synthesis.

... Can it be any more obvious? Synthesis is their preferred ending.

I have to say synthesis looks better w/out the green "Children of the Damned" glowing eyes and "Tron" body effects.

Screw the debate over the preferred ending. What freaking planet are they on and, more importantly, why? What is the purpose of this scene? It's probably a metaphor, it might imply a "full circle" by ending up back at Eden Prime but.. WHY. What is the fraking signficance of it? Give me some context here, Bioware.

We see in the Extended Cut that they left Sol via FTL. In Mass Effect canon, there's only one garden world within FTL range - only one plausible destination. Alpha Centauri.

Search "Manswell Expedition" on Cerberus Daily News for details about the planet, and what happened there. Suffice to say, they're less than a single day's travel away from Earth at cruising FTL speed. It'll take a while to rebuild the relays (ten to fifteen years, I think they said at SDCC), but the Normandy can get back to Sol almost immediately.

While that's a cool idea, I'm pretty sure the scene we se depicts the Normandy inside a Relay corridor. The beam moves linearly behind them, and we can see the corridor collapsing behind them at the front of the beam (implying that the corridor is collapsing at the same speed as the speed of the beam [in the corridor's altered frame of reference]). If that's the case, then they really could be anywhere.

That's my interpretation, and I'm sticking with with it.

*growls defensively*

I take no pleasure in poking holes in this, but....

hmmm...
Did they mention that what they landed on was a moon? Because the Eden planet clearly is.

Also, Alpha Centauri is a binary star system, and we only see one star on the Eden planet.

I like this one better:

"Bioware invited us all to their place to celebrate the ending, after they urinated into the punch bowl"

Which I could deal with, except they told me that Shepard would only survive if I drank the punch.

Nah - that ending made a tad more sense and had a bit more lead up.

But seriously, screw synthesis

Boohoo, it must suck to be so upset over an ending that you don't like. I've never seen so much crying about something that is ultimately so trivial a thing in my entire life. If BW had hypothetically stated that either Destroy or Control were their preferred ending and wanted either of them to be canon...I would be okay with that, even though I'm opposed to destroying all synthetic life.

I think "screw ending <insert name here>" is about as much depth as most forumites can manage. *snort* Fortunately, I've lowered my expectations considerably and have learned that I shouldn't come here to read mature, equanimous posts anyway. If I ever find one in an ME3 thread these days, I might actually faint.

*shiver* never understood why people like synthesis so much. you fundamentally alter every being in the galaxy without their permission. You do NOT have the right to do that, No one person has any right to take such action, my paragon shep didn't even need to think about it. and this argument that its bio's preferred ending doesn't sit right. Since the beginning one of the points has been we're trying to stop the bad guys because no one has the right to play god so i don't  think their fav ending is the one where you play god.

but synthesis is inevitable. and so's technological singularity. wait. Image IPB

. If it truly is inevitable the Catalyst would not have continued the cycles, he did.  Conclusion, synthesis is not inevitable

according to the leviathan the catalyst's 'purpose is not being fulfilled,' but when pressed on their accountability, the catalyst 'still serves it's purpose'. the contradiction apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Jesus christ this logic tree really sucks. What bad writing, I'm sorry.

And to make matters worse, Shepard appears to have an oven mitt on his shoulder. Clearly something has gone very wrong.

I'll make a short list off the top of my head:

1) The "Opera" vision "payoff" was: there happen to be some people standing next to Anders on a balcony.  This vision was built up over pretty much the entire show for that?

2) A complete misunderstanding of "Mitochondrial Eve" on the writers' parts.

3) Cylon leader abruptly committing suicide because...?  I don't know, I guess we were running out of air time?

4) The numbers/song as coordinates for our Earth?  Really?  Cheesy as hell.  This is more of a taste thing I guess, but man it just didn't hit me as the revalatory payoff that the writers obviously thought it was.
