Choose a Body Type/Size in Character Creation?

Given how often I choose female characters, I get a little dissapointed when their frame evokes very little "strength" in some games, especially when I am playing a tank.
But I know some people don't like their character to be realistically proportioned when it comes to muscle mass, so the option to make a more buffed up character, particularly for females, would be great. And vice versa for males (more feminine, less muscle mass body options for males).
Cheers!

They have previously stated that one of the major reasons they will not give race selection is they don't want to design cinematics and armor for different body sizes and heights.

You madame have most definitely made this thread once or twice before that I'm aware of.

As I said in the other thread that didn't have as clear of a title, I am very doubtful this will be in game.

Thats funny, because most other games can do it, why can't BioWare?

Other games don't tend to put as much emphasis on complex cinematic conversations and stuff. So they don't have to worry about clipping or people getting in the way of the camera or things like that.

I disagree. If they develop the concept into the workflow, it wouldn't be so hard.
In fact, clipping is way more obvious in game, because the player can choose the camera angles, not the developer.

No.
They could make it work if they really wanted, they did in Origins - its not worth the trouble, but i do hope we see differering body types among the NPC's. You had the odd fat bloke in Origns.

I'd so much rather have this than race.

But since DA relies heavily on cinematics, I'm not holding my breath. If they include it, yay, if they don't, oh well. There are worse things.

I don't really mind if we get to choose a race or not, but I think it would be ideal for there to be a body slider for both males and females.
I doubt we'll get a slider, in the sense of a smooth transition. If we're lucky (and I'd like this, sure), they'll put in 3 or 4 body types per gender. Personally, I don't see any reason NOT to do this--due to the companion customization method they're pursuing they're already going to be customizing every piece of gear in the game for multple "body types", what would it hurt to add a few more for the PC?
If it comes along with a base clothing set that influences how your gear looks, I will not mind.

What you are asking them to do is to essentially create six to eight different versions of each armor on top of what they already do for the companions. Not to mention the potential headaches that would cause with cinematics.PsychoBlonde wrote...

The companions AND the NPCs that have their own appearances (although they probably won't have to generate more than one per NPC, but there are still WAY more NPCs than companions). They're going to be generating tons of appearances anyway due to this approach, six to eight more sets shouldn't be undoable.
If this results in fewer cinematic angles, close-ups, and PC/object interactions so be it, but they managed in SWTOR quite well and there are some substantial height differences between the body shapes.

No way. A huge part of why BioWare has dismissed race options is because they don't want to scale body models, armour, camera angles, etc. If they end up doing it anyway despite not giving race selections, it'll undermine the entire reason why they wouldn't do it, not to mention be a spit in the face to race fans.
It's true that body type customization probably won't be featured in DA3, for many of the same reasons that race selecton won't be featured.
In an ideal world, though, it would be fun to play an RPG where I could create a human character who's as short as me (I'm 4'8").

I would have to agree. Not only that, but it would limit BW's ability to create deep detail on their pre-rendered armor designs.
