DA2's combat was VERY satisfying and tight, but I think it could be improved by having more tactical options and lots more kinds of attacks/animations etc.
Don't go back to DA:O though, the combat was slow and felt way too loose. Not satisfying at all, even if you did manage a battle really well, it took ages and didn't have any real payoff.
DA2, the tactics (when used properly) are instant, so you feel like a boss when you run into a room and decimate mobs within seconds because of all those pre-programmed rules you gave to the squad. It is boss.
Keep the visceral feel of DA2 combat, just add more tactics/moves!

I'm not a huge fan of the asthetic of DA2 combat but I hear you on how frustrating DA:O could be and how smooth DA2 was. I remember fighting Ser Catherine in DA:O instead of agreeing to be arrested by her and my god I was fighting the controls as much as I was fighting her. My only wish for DA3 is to be able to stealth around and place or disarm traps prior to a fight to give me a tactical edge. I hated how DA2 automatically started the fight when you were in range.

DA2 was hack and slash. Granted there were some elements that did work I am glad they are changing it.
And yes Origins was slow but there was more depth to it.
I hope they keep the aspects that worked from both games and create something that appeals to ALL the fans instead of catering to one group
