See is an infiltration unit. It'd be safe to assume that 'infiltration' will occasionally result in sleeping with someone. The unit is designed to be a realistic body, which is why the inclusion of such a.. feature.. weirds some people out.

Her body is made of hard metal, with the exception of her head/hair, which she can switch between rigid and malleable.  There are multiple in-game conversations that confirm this.

Seriously, if EDI had a body that wasn't so sexualized, her dialogue would remain identical. Unfortunately, Bioware decided to use her body as a vehicle for the awfully executed Joker romance and going down a character arc that is frankly unoriginal.

On an unrelated note, despite the lack of creativity in her story arc, it at least made sense and was coherent and understandable. Unlike Legion and the geth, who did a complete 180 from their stance in ME2. But that's for another discussion.

What's so bad about EDI's body? The obvious over-sexualization is the issue for some, but I'd bet more people have an issue with it because it doesn't help the gamer stigma of being a sexually frustrated, overweight, socially inept, 30 something who lives in his parent's basement.

As a related side note: BioWare, if you want to pull out the "Art" defense, don't pander to the lowest common denominator with this kind of junk, and more people might have taken it seriously.

EDI as a true sex-bot might make for some varyingly awful/amusing/titillating fanfiction, but it isn't feasible with in-game lore. She isn't capable of that kind of "infiltration." With a fake epidermis, she can pass for human by sight or casual touch, but she can't fake it in the sack.

EDI's sexualized appearance is a contrivance, but as contrivances go, it's fairly reasonable. Eva Core is a previously established character - an attractive female to whom TIM was associated, who died. TIM had EDI built in her image. Not so outlandish in a futuristic sci-fi setting.

We can ignore all the females and focus on EDI, or we can assume the fact that EVERYONE is over sexualised:

-Ashley’s armour, face, hair, lips... specifically, the armour, considering she is a soldier, how come Kaidan’s armour is more suited for that class. Talk about sexualised characters...
-Samara, or any asari pole dancer.
-Liara, I didn’t see Edi’s ****** (not interested...), but I can see Liara’s boobs from the other side of the galaxy.

We can complain about EDI and hey, that’s good, we can do that. I hate the fact that her powers have long CD or that decoy is rubbish. But please, don’t say she is far more sexualised than any other female ME character... know the game you are playing.

You don't know that. There's no reason a robotic vagina in the 22nd century won't equal or superior to a human vagina.

There is nothing wrong with the body. I notice a trend for exaggerating breast size but that's all.

I even wasn't able to get a glimpse of that famous cameltoe - I think it can only be seen in certain situations from certain angles? This is almost like playing records backwards and identifiying subliminal garbled satanic messages.
