I enjoyed DA2 just as much as I did with DA:O.
Bioware Ι totally reconsider. Given it's shortcomings DA2 is very good. i love it!

I'm replaying it now for the first time (other than a quickly aborted attempt last year.) My main reaction is that the game is an unbelievable achievement considering it had such a short development time, but that it feels like a first draft. It also feels like an Anders spin-off, making it essentially a side story to an expansion pack (Awakening.) That's a nice treat for long time fans of the series like me, but it certainly limits the appeal for most other gamers.
Anyway, I'm definitely enjoying the game a lot more this time round. Since I'm not worried about spoilers, I am just meta-gaming the relationships a lot (using the wiki to see which companions to bring on each quest in order to get more out of them.) On my first playthrough I didn't know to bring Anders in the Deep Roads expedition, then I had problems with Isabela later on. I'm also doing the DLC this time, which adds considerably to the overall enjoyment. Visually, I've come to terms with the simplified art style.
Two major reservations about the game are:
1. There are too many quests activating all at the same time and they often have very similar themes. For example, in the first act I had 15-20 current quests and 3 or 4 of them were about people whose sons went missing. Makes it very difficult to keep track of what is going on in each quest and unlike DA:O, the journal system doesn't help.
2. The wave combat is more annoying than the recycled environments. It's impossible to know if you should use up your best abilities early on, or just wait for the next wave. This is annoying me even more this time through. Since I'm playing a mage, my character has low health. It's almost pointless to think about positioning her outside of the fray of combat, since enemies invariably end up jumping out of thin air right behind my character.
Overall, it's a difficult game to know how to get the most out of, but perseverance does more than pay off in the end.

I liked it from the start.
Then again, I wasn't expecting an expansion of DAO but an entirely new game.

Funny, I too was bored and needed some CRPGs to play....so I reinstalled BG2.
....aaaaaaaaaaaaaand that was all I needed.
Like Stockholm Syndrome I think the sudden approval of DA2 is most likely due to the mind reconditioning itself to accept the fragile and unwanted reality it now resides in.

When asking myself whether or not I thought Dragon Age 2 was a bad Bioware game I asked myself this question:
"How would I stack it up with Jade Empire?"
Jade Empire is a Bioware classic and yet I find that DA2 is superior in every way. More memorable characters, better active combat and leveling system, actually more areas, Probably a longer game.
I really enjoyed Jade Empire too so there is no reason I should harbor negative feelings towards DA2 when I feel it is a better game overall.
Its crimes are...it doesn't live up to DA:O and had one of the shortest development cycles I have ever seen in a video game. (Feel sorry for the devs to have to meet such a crazy deadline)
