You arn't forced to kill all the time, a few times in DA2 Hawke can beat people into submission or punch them etc.

That`s OK but just punching is too simple. It will be much better if we will get options for kicking, stomping, trampling and spitting on bad guysPosted Image

In DA2 you were forced to kill at least half the population of Kirkwall. Hawke was pretty much a mindless murder machine even if you took every good and diplomatic option you could, which is one of my big problems with the game.

Some quests that simply don't involve violence or have more optional non-violent solutions would be great and would add some variety to the game. Along with your idea for more violent but non-lethal solutions, which is also great. Why every thug and mercenary in Kirkwall had to immediately attack and fight you to the death is beyond me.

You realize it was the same in Origins regarding the Warden right?

No. You were able to persuade your way out of certain fights in Origins. You didn't have to kill everyone. In DA2, if felt like 50% of the conversations(outside of companion and family talks) ended with a battle.

You were mostly killing darkspawn in Origins too, mindless freaks that are expected to be put down in numbers. How many human bodies were being removed from the streets of kirkwall every night?

I keep trying to think of a word for all 3 of them, Humanoid doesnt really work....since the darkspawn are humanoid.

I just want to be able to scare the **** out someone. Pretty undignified for an Inquisitor to get in to a brawl like some commoner.

Humanoid is "human-normative" implying "default human" as acceptable and "standard."

Racist. :P

Reaver-spec'd warrior PC's should be able to use their Frightening Appearance ability in conversations, sort of like a free intimidate, except with unique dialogue potential. Like completely scaring the fight out of an uppity goon and his friends, for example.

Obviously that's not something they could do for conversations throughout the whole game, but it offers a potential non-lethal solution to some situations, and it would help achieve the goal of player specializations having reactivtiy in the game world. Could be a fun idea to throw in 2 or 3 times.

i'm going to agree with the op here.

i would love to see some brawling options in cutscenes. agro-hawke and aveline pulled some punches that were pretty priceless, as i recall. i'd love to see more of that.

also, remember that little clubbing effect from MoTA? (when we were sneaking around and could knock a guard over the back of the head if we needed to?) that would be nice to have on a full-time basis. i prayed and prayed that someone good with mods could make that available ALL THE TIME, just so i could use it on everyone in kirkwall that annoyed me. (apparently, it's not doable.)

sometimes people DO need punched in the face, clubbed over the head, or at least given an immature kick to the shin.

I would like interrupts in cutscenes. Not Paragon/Renegade, just red and blue. To step it up from Mass Effect, have them show up at the same time and force the player to chose one or do nothing at all.

One more improvement: Have the action take place after the time window for choosing in interrupt occurs, that way it feels less out of place.

You can also punch Isabela when you turn her over in "No Rest for the Wicked", that was fun

I think we had a fair amount of "not kill people" options. The problem was that you killed people ALL THE TIME (so much so, that every other interaction seems very few and far between)

It was some serious "suicide-by-Hawke" the way everyone was throwing themselves in front of your sword/fireballs.

It also made the game less fun, with the gore overload.

ALL missions should have multiple ways to completed them including peaceful routes.

Ideally you should be able to complete any true RPG without killing anyone.

This is something BioWare have failed to grasp.
