I think I'd prefer new companions, dwarf or not. If I had to pick one, I'd go with Varric. For me, DA2 just wan't playable without "my trusty dwarf" around. I'd cry myself to sleep without him.
In a bar brawl, Oghren would probably be too drunk to fight and would fall over before the fight began, thus Varric would win by default. Varric could also simply ensnare Oghren with his chest hair, thus making the berserker warden immobile.
Which Dwarf Companion?

Someone new. If I were to choose a previous companion to be one in DA3, it wouldn't be a dwarf. It would be Velanna, but I could understand if Sigrun also became a companion, as she and Vel have a similar situation, of disappearing to find someone.

I'd prefer a new one, but I'll be happy to see Oghren again.

Apparently they already announced it takes place right at the end of DA2 and doesn't go forward in time. Can someone post the link?Maclimes wrote...

The castless baby I saved. His mother promised to send him to me anyway.
First of all, that occured less than 10 years before DA3, so the kid can't be very old.
Secondly, the "me" in this instance is the Warden, not the protagonist of DA3.

Varric is the only one with enough personality to really bring back, I would think. Oghren makes me laugh but is pretty bland in the ol' convo department.

I have to admit, I am a little worried about that.JuGonzo wrote...
Honestly, after they said the PC MUST be human, I lost all my hopes. Probably all the companions will be humans too...
I want to at least see a female dwarf somewhere if I can't play one. Seriously, there were none in DA2 and it stood out like a sore thumb. You had myriad elven and human females, and Varric and Bodahn and Sandal. What's wrong with female dwarves?

HK-47!
Wait, he's not a dwarf. Sigrun or Oghren. Or even someone new. Like a Harrowmont or a Helmi.

Varric or a new one, maybe from Kal-Sharok.

Why are people saying that Sigrun can't return because she can die in Awakening. I mean Anders can as well, yet he returned in DA2.

I hope we get a new one though I wouldn't have any problems with Varric returning. He is the Garrus of Dragon Age universe.

Well, we've had someone from the Warrior Caste (Oghren), Surface Dwarf (Varric) and Casteless/Legion of the Dead (Sigrun). So, probably a Noble Caste member this time; perhaps, if enough time has passed, young Endrin (Bhelen's son). But that would still involve him being on the surface and possibly losing his stone sense.

And she is responsible of a Exalted Marches against Orzammar !

I would like Oghren but if it was a dwarf LI possibility I would choose Varrick all day. Also Oghren would kill Varrick in a bar fight someone who fights with an axe and someone who uses crossbow if no weapons gotta choose Oghren

Sigrun, with a slightly reduced American accent.

Sigrun wins hands down for me. I loved her very much and would be so pleased to see her again. Shale would be my second choice followed by Varric. I'm one of the few that wasn't crazy about Oghren so it wouldn't bother me if he didn't show up again.

Seconding Dagna. Obviously there to investigate the nature of red lyrium.
...which will indubitably corrupt her mind, turn her into a brilliant monomaniac like Branka who concocts a terrible, beautiful plan to bring ~the song~ to EVERYBODY...
OK, maybe not Dagna.

Dagna was adorable. Wouldn't mind her making a return, and being the first dwarf mage ever. Won't happen, but I'd still like to see it happen.
