But I admit I cheered when Desmond stabbed Lucy.

Care to tell why?

I have to say I woke up this morning shocked. Gamefly shipped Assassins creed 3... Yesterday. It wasn't even at the top of my list.

Can't wait to play!

It goes like this:

Connor ending: good.

Desmond ending: bad.

That said, I don't think that the "Desmond ending" should discourage anyone from playing. And Connor's a helluva better character than Ezio and Altair.

It's nice I'll be able to play this game only in the end of November.

Damn Ubisoft and their crappy treatment to PC gamers. :(

Well actually its gonna be better for PC users because anyone playing this on consoles are legimetly beta testing. There are many minor bugs and crashes(my PS3 crashed first time...)

Not buggy as Skyrim tough :) i havent heard any gamebreaking bug like in Skyrim.

So they are only gonna have one game for this character? Shocking..

From the link:

I never really got into Mass Effect, the epic science
fiction trilogy that spanned this entire generation of game consoles and
ate up hundreds of hours of gamers’ lives over the course of the last
five years.
So I wasn’t sure what to think when many of the series’ most devoted fans unleashed a furious backlash against its maker BioWare following this year’s release of the grand finale, Mass Effect 3.
A large group of players was quite let down by what they felt was a
thin, anticlimactic ending that didn’t live up to the half-decade of
buildup.
After finishing Assassin’s Creed III, I am beginning to sympathize.

I could never get into Assassin's Creed. I liked AC2 well enough but AC1 sucked and all the other games were mediocre with shades of 'this is getting old fast.'

But I was a rabid fanboy for Mass Effect.

And it's with my experience with ME3's ending that I extend my condolances for anyone who loved the AC franchise, warts and all.

I'm beginning to lose heart that long series-wide narratives in video games are truly sustainable. Since no one's sticking their endings. They're fine with bread-crumb littering as the series moves forward but wrapping them up? It's like series-long stories in television. They just don't end well.

There´s a current obsession with trying to make endings memorable and also a belief that if things don´t end somehow badly then it is not of quality. After all there´s people who really want to believe Bruce and Selina at the end of DKR is in Alfred´s imagination. And no mantter how many endings crashed because of this, the trend still continues. I just don´t get it.

True Art is Angsty my ***.

I'm about 2-2 1/2 hours in, and I am completely and totally UNIMPRESSED. And I've played every game sofar, in sequential order. Here I thought I'd be playing as a native American....I didn't know it would be segmented like this. Too much go here and simply press a button. Movement in free-run is much more clunky and buggy then ever before, especially compared to the polish in ACII. The weapon selection...why the hell can't I select the friggin weapon I want? Never had this problem in other AC games. The UI is TERRIBLE. Where in the world is stealth? Where is the loot they promised? The introduction was nifty, but after that, it got really weak really quick. I have to say, this game isn't what I was expecting and I'm very disappointed.

So how is AC2 on PC? I'm thinking of trying the series out now that Ubi has abandoned online DRM..well, I already tried AC1 and was pretty unimpressed but I know they made a lot of improvements in the sequel. So which should I get?

Holy **** is the multiplayer fast in AC3, maybe they changed it in ACR and I didn't play it, but AC3's mp takes no time to get a match.

I remember brotherhoods mp taking 20 minutes to get a single match going, glad they fixed this problem. XD

Get AC2, you wont be dissapointed. First game was a bit repeative and boring but they fixed this (and a lot more) in second game.
Brotherhood is very good too. It also has multiplayer but i dont think you can find anyone playing it.

@xsdob

Yeah, it was pretty fast in Revelations too but people tend to abandon MP part a bit quick. Not many continue playing after a few months.

You get to start playing as Connor...I think in the 4th sequence?

Just try to relax and give it a chance. Honestly, it will make more sense when you get to that point, and you will notice a lot better movement from Connor. The old dude is kind of clunky. Heh.

I think a lot of the beginning sequences are meant to be tutorial. Even when you finally start playing as Connor, there are new skills to learn. For instance, hunting. I was able to kill animals with Kenway, but couldn't skin them. I learned that skill later. Also, with Connor, you get to do some pretty awesome tree-climbing, which makes sense with his character.

I don't think you're alone in being confused/disappionted by the beginning. I had issues with the weapon selection too, but once you figure out that you can just use the d-pad (well, on XBox; not sure what you're playing on) to change weapons, it made things much easier.

In response to your thread about a game-breaking bug in the second sequence, I didn't experience it. Which platform are you on, and what was the bug?

Admittedly, I'm still trying to figure out the manor stuff. I mean...I only have one Artisan thus far, but I acquired a boatload of crafting recipes that I can't use yet. The recipes show that I need other Artisans (where in the heck is Ellen?) I need some more Homestead missions, so I can recruit more peeps! I would expect to be able to walk up to something in the manor and be able to open it, or upgrade it, or whatever, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

So I watched the ending on YouTube...

(Well I played through AC1 and II and I had no interest of buying this game so I thought I might as well watch the conclusion)

Yeah, Bioware can sit back relieved now because ACIII will be winning the "worst ending of the year" award. Seriously, it seems Ubisoft took some pointers from ME3 and used them while expanding on them to create an even worst ending, there's even some similarities to ME3's plot. It's almost hilarious.

Oh and they even used the crappy ending to have more bashes at religion. Seriously who is behind the story in this game? Richard Dawkins? Cry me a river Ubisoft, no one cares.

The ending seems even more rushed than ME3's ending and didn't have the same momentum as ACI's or ACII's endings.

Just thought I'd add my thoughts there...

Seriously, AC3 and ME3 with their suckish endings. Do I have to rely on shooters like Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 to give a decent ending this year? In fact, I bet there gonna take an "artistic" direction too.

I'm going to reserve judgement on the ending until I actually beat the game. Not much into spoilers, personally.

I'm curious why people are expecting a brilliant, life-changing ending anyway. This is Assassin's Creed, is it not? I've never played it for the story.

@ Prince - I know! My jaw dropped to the floor on that one.

Yeah, the difference between ME3 and AC3 is I was VERY invested in the story of ME so the ending being terrible crushed me.

AC on the other hand? I play it for the assassins in Desmond's memories, not Desmond himself.

If the ending is ME3 badish, I'll live. Hopefully.

As for that Sequence 3 plot twist, GAAAAAAH

Ubisoft you so good.

^ Exactly, I'm with you.

On a different note, I think it's interesting that now you actually have to pick locks on some of the treasure boxes. I had one last night that was a royal pain. I'd already opened 10-15 of them, so I was well-versed in how to do it, but this one in particular was becoming the bane of my existence. I tried turning it fast, slow, everything. I finally made my husband try it. He said it was a weird interface, but he got it within a couple of tries. Figures.
