I choose both, they are after all all part of the wider community. Mages need their freedom, but Templars have its purposes, it is just the current system is horrible and needs to be fixed, so Mages and Templars can work together as equals. Therefore I will in DA3 kill any from either camp that want to push supremacy over the other, I have already send Anders and Meredith to their makers, anyone wants to join them feel free.

Do note that every single templar who wants to keep the system going in any way wants templar superiority over mages, so you'll need to do a lot of killing there.

There is an old saying "different people will only work together when either faced with a common enemy or tired of killing each other". If it must be then so be it, at least a better world on the otherside.

Pro Inquisition and pro people of Thedas.

Any aggressors, whether overzealous fanatic, nefarious blood mage or brick-headed qunari will be dealt with harshly.

DA3 better not forces me to side with anyone. I went in circles during the last Meredith/Orsino dialogue for ten minutes, wondering where the "you both suck" option was hidden.

It was blatantly obvious. It's just that Meredith will kill you if you take it, so you may as well go with the mages.

If you remain "neutral" in the face of obvious oppression, then you're just as bad as the oppressors.

Neither - both organizations need to be destroyed and rebuilt.

The mages are out of control and the abusal of their powers to start a war is exactly WHY they should be treated differently.

Common folks can't just rebel with such small numbers - you want to be treated like common folks - act like them.

Mage supporters on these forums are very much "cake and eat it too" types and I'm unsympathetic to that cause (even though I exclusively play mages myself)

===

And then there's the fascist Templars so stuck in a rut and high on their own nugget of power.

The Templars should be taken from the Chantry and each nation of Thedas should govern how Templars are used in their countries.

Because a Templar has no special skills against a knight. If the Templars are just one part of a knighthood - then their power as an organization can no longer be abused. (Any more than a common knighthood could abuse its power)

Where did I say that I am pro oppression? I'm all for sane mages being free - I'd never lock up someone like Wynne just for being a mage. It's those people who are a threat to innocents that will be dealt with. Permanently, if necessary.

Thinking that mages aren't different is just willful ignorance.

Let me explain it in more detail so hopefully you'll understand.

Common people - normal folks with no magical powers to blow up buildings with their minds - need entire nations to rise up against oppression to fight it off.

The mages - need a few schools. A far smaller number.

What happens when mages decide they want a new king on a whim? Just have a few storm the castle.  (Avernus alone starts a rebellion with blood magic)

How about a mage who wants to crush his neighbor over some banal problem - and knocks his house down with an earthquake.

It's fascination that you think they can be trusted - because from what I've heard from folks like you and Plaintiff on how you would go about handling things... you're exactly why, as a mage, I will be crushing the mage rebellion.

That's "different" from common folk - and I hope you can understand that.

====

And it's more like: "Silly mages, if you just stopped whining about equality while throwing fireballs and not seeing how hypocritical you are - maybe someone would be sympathetic to your plight."

Pro Neither.

My first DA3 playthrough will be to try to kill as many as possible on both sides. And then kill the Maker and destroy the Fade if possible.

The only cure to the diseased world of Thedas is death.

What Plaintiff is trying to say is that if you aren't 100% behind the mages, you're 100% behind the Templars by inaction, which is typical extremist ridiculousness.

If it's a choice of: "You must be for mages, or against them."

Then I am 100% against my fellow mages.

And I can't wait to slaughter every blood mage demon worshipping psychopath that comes at my main PC.

Hopefully the Templars will be watching and be more amenable to negotiation - or they'll be next.

I couldn't really pick a side with good conscience. Both of them will likely make the common people suffer in some way if left unchecked.

What I really hope for is a better portrayal of both sides in DA3. More understandable motivations, less rah-rah-crazy caricatures.

The templars in Kirkwall had the same motivations as templars everywhere, they were just more politically powerful. Prepare for disappointment.

Pro Templar. The circle is needed and the chantry is the only organistion big enough to govern it. That said, I hope we get a opportunity to reform and moderate Templars.

Think about this idea it in its entirety. Kirkwall, the entire city suddenly has magic powers. What happens next?

(*hint, it starts with the letter A)

Moderate :P. I understand the reason for Templars, and yet why Mages are revolting, but Templars need to be less oppressive, and the mages need to show they can still be cool, and not risk turning into Abominations. Besides, Blood Magic is kind of disturbing...well, the really bad uses of it is.

The city was a hellhole anyway. Future generations could well be better off if the place was leveled. Not that it would be good to kill everyone, of course, but after the initial chaos, the world could be better off if everyone became a mage. It'd remove any inherent inequalities based on magical status, so all that'd be left is a knowledge barrier, and that's far easier to cross.

Or the world would be better off if all mages were drowned at birth.

You really are a mage supremacist Xilizhra (or at least you play a character who is).

Makes me happy I take the stance I do.

But you know it is going to happen, Sandal already mention it, and I bet Morrigan's old god baby will be the catalyst for this.
