It's funny how vilified Tranquility is.

People are too obsessed with being ruled by their emotions.

It's funny how vilified magocracy is. It's not like any of Thedas' other nations are more democratic.

There's only one nation on Thedas that practices slavery and blood sacrifices. Of course it will be villified.

Several others practice slavery. And mages are hardly neessary for humans to do either one, as we can see many times in our own world.

Which codex entries indentify the nations who use legalized slavery like the Tevinter, sacrifices slaves for

blood rituals, weakened the veil in a region that was their former slave trading hub due to excessive killings, and

who's ruling class nearly destroyed Thedas thanks to a highly infectious magical plague they contracted in the Fade?=]

The problem with choosing one side is that they're both wrong. And now that the Templars are separate from the Chantry you've got three wrongs and together they certainly never managed to make a right. Things like harrowings and education still need to happen to reduce the number of mages so weak that they cannot resist possession but one can't dismiss the possibility that many of the Circle mages who failed their harrowing or were made Tranquil because they were too afraid to face it would have been far less prone to attract demons if they weren't so scared and/or frustrated all of the time.

I think what I'm saying is that there ought to be a happy medium between total oppression and total freedom. Now that the Templars are off what useless leash they had, however, I'll find it hard to support their cause wholeheartedly without role-playing someone who has a serious history with maleficari.

I'd imagine if it was a real life choice I'd be saddled with being born a mage...in the Qun. Such is my luck lol.

I almost unfailingly play a Mage-Hawke, so generally I am pro-mage. However, if the game allowed me to, I would have chosen a middle-of-the-road option.

if there were, we wouldn't ALL be pro-templar b/c it stands to reason some of us would be mages.

Yeah, it shouldn't be black-and-white annihilate mages or burn every Chantry to the ground. I want to resolve this thing peacefully. The Circle goes a little too far, but a lot of their points are good ones. The system needs to be refined.

Is the templar stance the extermination of mages or restoring the Circle system? On the former, my response on "final solutions" and similar is everytime the biggest, Sten-like, "No" possible.

Um....Considering the fact that I don't believe in a Theocratical Government, I would NEVER be Pro Templar.

In real life I disagree with locking people up just for being born and lobotomizing them for trying to get free.

So no, I most certainly would not be Pro-Templar in real life. Also I'm an atheist so I have no crazy religious zeal to fall back on to obey the so-called Chant Of Light of an organization that endorses slavery and attacking other races simply because they have a different religious belief.

Pro-Mage all the way for DA3.

Pro Templar.

Mages are dangerous and need to be held to a different standard. It return, they need to be protected and cared for. The Circle system needs some refinement, but it works.

pro-freedom, and personal responsiblity... so might not take either side.  I might just decide to implement my own views (if it's possible gamewise)

@Xilizhra: Magic stagnates the world.

If the nations of Thedas didn't cripple themselves with relying on mages - they would have likely made vast technological advances instead o fusing swords and armor like primitives.

Yes we can see just how safe a technological world is simply by reading a newspaper...

Reliance on magic isn't any worse than a reliance on technology. Magic doesn't stagnate a worlds development. Intolerance and fear do.

i feel i got flaked. I do 't say i support pro-templars if things were real. but the idea of circle of the magi (not meredith oppresive style ) is not a bad one. I feel the lesses bad of these two is the Pro templars way provided the Circle was working properly and was humaine. And i do not believe in theocratical societies either. but leaving mages on the loose... it is not they are bad, of course not! look at Fenriel in Da2... there would be lots of people leike him.
it is about guidance and some restrictions as i see it.

Pro-Merril. Will kill templars and mages alike if they decide to go full retard. But I would so be for an open circle, where mages that have passed their harrowing can leave as they please, but would be paired with a templar as an escort.

i have no problem with you (or anyone) being pro-temp, even tho i'm not.

but the circle system didn't work.  not for either side.

working systems don't cause mounting hostilities over periods of centuries, with checks and blances that need to be constantly reworked all the time b/c one side or another abuses them.  working systems don't attempt to exist in isolation from the wolrd around them (while both sides simultaneously send various mixed propaganda to the world around them to not only explain their existance, but in bits for support or power plays).  working systems don't assume it's possible for the rest of the masses to ignore them and let them live in a vaccume most of the time.  working systems recognize what their strengths and working components are, and do their best to nurture and facilitate them.  working systems IMMEDIATELY discard anything that isn't working for them.  without hesitation or excuse.

working systems don't implode on themselves.

the circle system (as it was) failed.  EPIC failed.  we all need something else.
