Hi Bioware, please do NOT make ME Movie(s) a direct adaptation of the main trilogy

Games with a story that allows choices should NOT be adapted into linear-format of storytelling such as the cinema. This is simply a downgrade for the story. The cinematic format will not add anything new to it, it will undermine it. The choice is integral part of ME Trilogy's story.
Please make a movie in the Mass Effect universe that does not conflict with the games, just as you work so hard to ensure ME comics/books don't interfere with the choices in the trilogy. If you've already put the effort to ensure compatibility in the entire ME universe, don't hinder that with a movie that conflicts with the games.
Thx

RED SAND....but that was a short fan film so I guess it doesn't count.

Would Forward Unto Dawn count?

Mass Effect will be a full feature film so I"m trying to compare it accordingly. Forward Unto Dawn is more mini series/extended live action trailer if I'm not mistaken.Ticonderoga117 wrote...

I hear conflicting things. Some say it's a 90 minute film split into 5 "episodes", or it's a web series. Will get back to you on that once I get the full legnth thing and watch it in one go.

Though we should also be petitioning Legendary Pictures (not just Bioware), right?

The trilogy story is amazing as a game, with choices, exploration, missions, extensive dialogues, hours of action, hours of cutscenes. 30 hours at least to properly show that universe, plus codex and description ingame. ME1 have a good story for a film, but will feel empty for any fan, because there will be a lot of things lacking. It would be like seeing someone playing the game, jumping all dialogues and secondary missions, just rushing to see the story. Boring and hollow.
Then, even if the first film end up being good, you have ME2, that is extremely focused on character side stories. The main story is cool, but can't hold a film by itself, you need the characters with their story, but it's too much characters, with too much story, all disconnected. A film can't handle it, it just can't. If you don't loose the fans on the first film, you loose them here, and I doubt you will have enough to hold the public that don't know ME.
Maybe we get at the third film, then you have a real problem, even with people that like ME3 and the end (like me), there's too much deception on the fanbase. Doing something better than the game is a bad idea, doing the same thing is a bad idea.
Please Bioware, just go for a extended universe kind of film, show something else, let Shepard be a game trilogy character, do a new one for the films. Show the humanity discovering mars's ruins, show they finding the Turians and starting the first contact war. Just create a new protagonist to run through this part of ME story, I think it's ideal. You will please the fans, and will show Me universe to the new public by humanity eyes, first with turians as enemies, then discovering the galactic community, which can be explored in a second film (with a conflict against batarians).
ME universe is too rich to be focused only on Shepard. You don't need to tell again the same story, there's a lot to tell about this universe...

First Contact War would make a perfect Mass Effect film adaptation.
Imagine the people that don't know ME, meeting the turian as a threat first, then knowing the galactic community, and having to deal with the turians as allies. This would be an awesome way to introduce ME universe. I can't find a better story to tell on the movies, it's perfect, t's just perfect. Bioware will loose a big opportunity ignoring the potencial of the first contact war..

Plus, it'll show much more of the universe and be more accessible to a none game fan audience than a boarder dispute between turians and humans.
