Firebase Reactor: Core venting
Firebase Ghost: Rain
Firebase Giant: Nighttime
Firebase White: Whiteout
Firebase Glacier: Seeker swarm
Now that we've had the chance to experience each of the new hazard maps, its that fun time to really chit chat about them. Before I get too far into all of this with my own views and my opinions on the maps. Here is my questions for you N7's out there. For those wanting to post on a poll here you go.
1. Which hazard map was your favorite and why?
2. Which hazard map was your least favorite and why?
For myself, it is a tough call between Firebase White and Firebase Ghost. I loved Dagger for its sandstorm and its ability to challenge players in a fight where the ability to see the enemy is harder, but I am not much of a "Sandstorm" kind of person. I prefer the snow so the whiteout of firebase white is amazing to me. But Firebase Ghost brings that true hazard challenge when the rain is falling, the enemy is shooting at you, and you're caught in the rain which is just destroying your shields bit by bit. Overall its a very tough call, but Firebase White inches ahead of Firebase Ghost. While I do love the challenge of ghost with its "Anti-shield rain", the ability to take away the players visual is just a tougher challenge in my opinion for the player. Though Firebase White would pull farther ahead if the whiteout was just a little more heavy, overall I still love it. Firebase Ghost takes a close second place though, much love for that map.
With all that said the only hazard map I can really say I didn't like was Firebase Reactor. While its cool to give the players more "tools" to fight the enemy, giving them this tool, and then claiming it as a "hazard" just wasn't spot on for me. Don't get me wrong, its cool to blast enemies with the core vent. But its just not a hazard to the players, if anything its just a helpful win button if its used properly. Sadly I saw a lot of players just randomly pressing the button. I understand it was new and not everyone knew what it really did which is fine, I had to press the button with nothing inside once to see what it did also. Still though it doesn't take away the fact that Firebase Reactor's "Hazard" to me was just a tool to be used for the players and the only threat it proved to be is if a troll pressed the button. While thankful that Bioware saw ahead of time of such possible trolling by adding in a 6-10 second warning to get out, it didn't do much to make the map feel like a hazard. It just felt like the same reactor, just with a tool to use against the enemy. I do not hate the map, its just not my favorite of the hazard maps.
With all of that said I am still highly supportive of more hazard maps being made. Thank you Bioware for these refreshing maps and I cannot wait to see what else you make for us.
What about you N7's? Where do you stand with these new maps?
