BSN is dying because every single thread gets turned into an ending related whine-fest. I can see why most people can't be bothered any more.

I stopped posting much after the ending 'fix' didn't really fix anything to be honest. I read now and then 'just in case' something changes but no longer holding my breath. Then there are others like my partner who hasn't even glanced at anyting ME after playing #3 just once. I barely even have any interest in any future ME stories after this one. This is not hating, just wishing things where different.

It's funny how it's the pro-enders that are usually the arrogant, rude and downright offensive posters....

This is just another example of rude generalisation and finger pointing. I think we are all alike in many ways. Both sides are guilty, with a few exceptions (I'm definitely not one of them, nor you are... but at least we try).

Oh, come on, don't be idiots. Especially you Brovikk.

Controversy fuels interest, the ending issue fueled interest. Nobody left because of the complaints, they left because it simply is no longer relevant to post here.

It's been a long time and most people have no interest in discussing "Please more Thane/Wrex" or "Please romance something.".

The ending thing was the primary reason as to why the board was as active as it was. Nothing more.

there is a reason why i don´t come here often anymore...

Yeah, this is what I'm saying. You don't see me in the ME3 boards nearly as often as I was before for that very reason. But I still think the dip in activity in just one section of the forum means the whole site is dying is an overexaggeration.

This.....

Only reason i came on the forum was down to the ending crap, i mean the game itself was mediocre but iv'e played mediocre games before and never gone on a forum, i never went on ME1/2 forums either.........but now it's irrelevant talking about the ending i dont lurk here as much and probably only do because of habit............Halo/AC will make my time here even less.

But hey...

No, I think the more important personality trait is you have to hate yourself.. Then synthesis will look more appealing. Or control because you can take all that anger out on the rest of the galaxy.

I still come here from time to time, to see wether there are any interesting news or not. It took me quite a while, but I think I'm pretty much over Mass Effect. Which is incredibly sad, tbh, because I really loved the universe and the characters and played the first two games several times. Now it's like after a hard breakup (and basically what Brovikk etc whished for) - I've moved on. There is nothing gonna change to make ME3 more appealing to me and there is nothing meaningful left to discuss here on the BSN.  I look at the DA3 forums for reasons to start getting excited about that, but actually I don't even really want that. Less excitement = less room for disappointment.

I wanted to love ME3, it was one of my most expected games ever. I wanted to convince all my friends to buy the game (or even the whole trilogy) so we could talk about how our respective Shepard's stories played out.

I didn't love ME3, there was just too much wrong with. At times I hardly even like it. None of my friends have played it, and I won't and can't convince anyone to get invested in the ME universe anymore.

The point I realized there was no point in coming to the BSN as regularly as I did before was when I returned after some time to finde the "One last plea"-thread locked. Damn...

He's not calling anyone an idiot, he's just saying some people are acting like one. There's a difference. Stop being so sensitive when more often than not you're the one dishing out the insults.

Edit: what's so amusing? That's my honest opinion of Synth and Control. Maybe not the only reason people may pick it. But I believe it's a contributing factor for some.

Regardless of that, how is this offensive? It's just my opinion about the larger picture. I'm not attacking individual people for their beliefs or feelings like most pro-enders do. It was just my opinion on a contributing factor for why some may choose it. If you disagree then it doesn't apply to you. In short, I'm attacking the ending concept itself. Not an individual poster.

No hypocrisy there. You're using what I said out of context. Like I said, It's just my opinion on why some people may or may not choose synth or control, and I stand by it.

There's a big difference between that and some of the posts I've seen by you attacking individual posters for their beliefs.

edit: Also, it's easy for you to pick that one post out of the many other things I've said on this forum. Selective attention much.

Jade!

We all have bad and good days, different moods. Sometimes we behave like jerks or are more selfish and arrogant, other times more tolerant and nice. That's it. Not a big deal. No one's an exception, not you, not me, nor anybody else. It's human.

Behaving like a human is not a bad thing. Behaving constantly like some higher being or a jerk is more of a problem. But there are very few examples of that here, thankfully.

Same here. I've lost interest in the game a long time ago. I haven't even finished it. I just don't have any interest in playing it anymore. I don't have very much time per day to play computer games, so I'd rather spend that time playing games I don't find pointless.

Why do I still visit this forum you may ask? Well, its because I find the discussion about the game, or rather the Mass Effect universe, to be more interesting and amusing then actually playing the game.
And I also follow the Dragon Age 3 forum for news and updates. So I drop in here now and then.

I still pop in as i'm following DA3 and also in the hope for news that Omega will be something other than a linear Aria tale. EC papered over some cracks but ME3 did a pretty comprehensive hatchet job of the series and of Shep via swathes of auto-dialogue and removal of dialogue choices.

The ME3 MP forum is alive and well. Also the DA3 forum seems to pick up the pace and will be buzzing with activity once the game is out. And so will the ME4 forum once that game is out.

If you're judging by the ME3 story and campain forum, the BSN is a bigger place than that by far.

I'm not giving you the gun!

There is a big difference to how someone may behave on good days and bad days in real life as opposed to how they may behave on the internet. If people don't think there is, than in my opinion they are either immature or like to abuse the power of anonymity. Because when it comes down to it, you have a lot more time to calculate and think about what you are going to say in a post on the internet than you do in real life. This limits the "heat of the moment" excuse somewhat which probably allows for a more intellectual discussion than what we'd see in real life also.
It's also important to remember that even though you may be hiding behind a screen name, writing/typing something down is much more permenant than speech irl is. As Brovikk just displayed.

On my bad days in real life, yes I have accidently said things that I've regretted and sometimes that unintentionally causes offense with other people.

On my bad days here, I swear in my posts, not at anyone of course and most of it is bleeped anyway. But the thing I never do is attack individual posters personally or say things that might cause offense like I might do IRL. I know what it feels like to be bullied, and looking back on it now, I'm glad I experienced that because I know just how important acting responsibly is to earn respect.

I've said this time and time again, the pro-enders tend to be a lot nastier and delusional than the ending haters. Yes there are nasty ending haters out there. No ****. I'm not ignoring them.

But how many times have we seen pro-enders tell people to get off the forums, or call people babies?  Yeah it's been 7 months, and most people have moved on, but that doesn't mean they aren't allowed to voice their disapproval with the direction the series went whenever they please. More importantly, if they wish to do so, who's gonna listen to them? Not many people. That's why the BSN is the place to do it.

I can see where pro-enders are coming from when they want people to stop complaining about the ending, but at this point they need to accept the fact that the criticism is never going to go away. The best thing they can do is create a private group if they want something that's 100% fullproof against complaining.
