To be fair, as opposed to a kiss up fanboi.
If BioWare makes something amazing, say Dragon Age 3 doesn't suck, then they might actually increase their chances of people forgetting what a cank job they did with ME3s ending. Then gamers, angsty but probably fickle at heart and with hope springing eternal, will maybe pick up ME4 (or whatever you want to call this nonsense). And if they don't totally screw up sales of those things, they'll go on, and be able to wave their miniature flags that say they were right all along.
If they totally blow sales on DA3 and whatever abomination they concoct for ME 4, they'll still be waving those flags. But with a crowd of 10 fanbois at a convention instead of hundreds.
If General Westmoreland can have never admitted being wrong, then anyone can. It just takes a thick enough skull. And for a lot of people (and companies) being wrong and sticking to your guns is a lot more important than being successful and changing your mind.
Speaking of Westmoreland, here's a quote:
"I haven't yet figured out how I was made first captain, because I was not an outstanding student. I was an adequate student."
'William Westmoreland
