That would be very interesting. It could work, I mean, Shepard wouldn't show up as he isn't even well known yet or have any interest or connections to the Alliance. I don't remember when he was born quite, but he is only like 3, right? or not even born? Same for Kaidan and James. Liara, Samara and a few Asari is the only people we could run into. :P

I would love to get involved in the First Contact War.

I don't mean to be the downer here, but this is straight from the codex:

"In the end, only six hundred and twenty-three human lives were lost with slightly more turian casualties. The only notable engagements were the turian attack on Shanxi and its subsequent liberation by human forces."

There's simply not enough actual combat to justify a game here. I agree with what's been said before regarding limited scope. Mass Effect is about the larger galactic community. A single planet's limited skirmish would feel tiny.

To be honest...it would be pretty horrible. Why? It would pretty much mean you'd play as a human fighting against turians. All your companions would be humans...Just thinking about this makes me feel sick.

I'm fine with prequels, but I don't get why First contact is considered a good one, and it worries me that Bioware might make it happen.

I'm sure they could find ways around that, and add more to it. There's so much to be shown, that isn't just in the war. The humans still have to prove themselves too, and codex's can always be revised.

The only real problem with a sequel is that it would need the canonization of an ending (Destroy, probably) and a lot of persons won't accept it. Also, if you go too far into the future, the connection with the original games is lost (For that, is better to create a new franchise)

Obviously, there is little to tell on a prequel, but i think that a game settled on the Prothean timeline could work.

The third solution would be to create a game in the same timeline as ME1-3. The same age, but from a different viewpoint.

I personally would like to see a sequel. I would have no problem with a canonized ending. Also, playing as a human against the Turians, or vice versa, just feels limiting. I would honestly would think it would be more fun to be able to do something along the lines of DA:O where you can create a character of a race of your choosing and perhaps start out on their respective homeworlds or colonies, perhaps during the rebuilding efforts after ME3.

ME3 is awesome game. Judging by your nonexistent Manifest, only debacle is your ability to play well MP & thus your constant whining about it on BSN.

Com'on, bit*h just a little bit about the ending.

Amuse me.

Not unless... We go back to a point during in the First Contact War, and reveal some sort of history. Let's say a black ops Turian squad ends up going head-to-head with a Human "space marines" troop on a planet both believe have a weapon/info that could turn the tide in their favour. What they uncover is a threat (either Reaper in origin, or something worse than Reapers), that forces them to work together. Ultimately they survive the ordeal, and vow to build some sort of secret organization to safeguard their secrets and to delay the upcoming threat.

Flashforward to the present. Rumors/Actual Sightings of that threat prompt the organization to seek the help of our main antagonist. Yada yada, story story. :D

As a spin off Mass Effect FPS this could really work. As a core game to the series its just not big enough. The RPG aspects are hugely limited due to tiny window in which to play. Like many others I'd like to se the series go forward, even if it meant canonizing one of the endings (probably Destroy based on popular opinion), or have it so far in the future it doesn't matter.

I would greatly prefer the next ME game to not include Reapers in any shape or form. So no prequels

I really find the background story of the discovery of Ezo, the realay and the concluding First Contact war really interesting.

But isn't there a novel released about that story?

I'd say it would be awesome. to figure out the roots of the conflict. alot of character's there to play possibly jack harper and his mercenary band.

plus it has all that david vs goliath theme going.

Man what i'd give to be their fighting side by side with young Anderson.
and yeah a young dr.chakwas. I'd imagine it would be like halo! protecting the human colony from the turians. you helping evacuate civilians as the turians invade the city.

and this time it wouldn't be a one man show. your part of a squad. marines fighting alien mooks

youtu.be/pBhLuxQPaIQ

It would also be cool to play zaeed infiltrating a turian cruiser and blowing it up. maybe you can be part of his squad that took down that turian cruise that would be awesome.

maybe thats why BW asked if they we wanted a prequel. awesome though

Making a prequel would be the biggest mistake bioware could ever make. It's all been told, it's all set in stone, so no room for choices. Therefore it would be a bad RPG.
And if the next mass effect is anything BUT an RPG, it will suck by default.period.
