Everyone should decide for themselves what their motivation is. It is their motivation, even if it seems bizarre or like a waste of time. Whether that motivation be from OCD (the completionist-type person), seeking a reward (needs the achievement/token), pushing their gaming abilities to the max, or competing with other players via leader board. If you don't care about achievements for yourself, why do you care what others work toward?Carcharoth42 wrote...
For the record, my point was that people should just enjoy playing the game instead of playing for the sake of achievement hunting.
For myself, I think achievements are fun, but I don't go too far out of the way to complete them. For example, I'm not going to side with the Templars three more times just to get the five-time achievement in DA2. Likewise, I don't want to romance Morrigan or Leliana in DAO just to get those achievements. However, if someone else feels compelled to do those things because of achievements, then that is how they want to play their game, and I don't begrudge them that.

For us PC players, I don't think Origin tracks achievements like Steam, does it?
Yes it does.

I don't want to play on the highest difficulty. I do want an achievement for playing on the highest difficulty.AlexJK wrote...
There is a very simple solution for people who want to play on the hardest difficulty - do so, regardless of whether there's an achievement or not. I don't understand why this never occurs to people.Carcharoth42 wrote...

They're easy to code and people enjoy them. If you don't care about them, be happy they use almost no zots and let people who like them have their fun.Realmzmaster wrote...
As far as I am concerned Bioware can leave the achievements on the cutting room floor. I see no purpose in them.

My point is, you could play the entire game on casual and then just switch over to Nightmare for the end boss.
I like achievements, but only for things like discovering hidden Easter eggs, or beating optional bosses, the "Grats on tying your shoe!" achievements tend to irk me.

Can't you just change the difficulty in DA on the fly? I have distinct memories of starting DAO out on normal my first time through and ramping the difficulty up as I went along. Maybe that was all a fever dream.

Nah, the achievement should only ding if you play the whole game on Nightmare. ME's Insanity achievement is like that. I mean, I assume it is, I never play on not-Insanity

Mass Effect 1 was so great cuz whenever you, like, got an achievement, you, like, got a reward for like the campaign. Like, bonus experience if you beat the game on difficult modes, bonus recharge rates if you got like a certain amount of power uses. And, like, you've prolly never heard of it, but that game was like, you know, WORKING, you know?

An achievement would be nice but it's quite unnecessary because only real gamers play on nightmare and that's a reward in and of itself.
Why thank you. I do so like having my gamer card revoked due to not wanting to spend hours on one fight.
On topic: While I was tempted to try Nightmare Mode in Mass Effect, I can't see myself enjoying it in Dragon Age. Mostly because I'm not one for tactical gameplay. I run in, bash at everything and hope I come out alive.
But I think an achievement is a nice idea for the people who do play on the highest difficulty. It's a reward for them and I never cared enough to let it bother me that I won't be gettig that particular 'trophy'.

I think achievements should be visually represented by an e-peen that gets a little longer for every achievement you acquire.
If you get all the achievements, you get a gift voucher to Bad Dragon.

Hours? Proper Tactics and preparation should narrow that down to 15 minutes

Yup, I love having tough achievements to work for. I was disappointed that DA2 didn't have a hard/nightmare difficulty achievement.
I actualy thought dragon age 2 even on nightmare wasnt as hard origins

I'm pretty sure "hours" was an exaggeration, but depending on the fight it can like a while even with a sound strategy. I'm a real gamer, however I don't usually play a game on the hardest difficulty unless there's something to gain out if it other then a big head.

Achievements like that are stupid. I'm not going to play a complete Nightmare playthrough just because I want to get a final achievement. Besides I never play high difficulties, I always play casual. Why work hard when you can do it easy.

If you don't want to play through the game on Nightmare then you don't have to. I enjoy collecting achievments so I would really like to see an achievment for playing the game on Nightmare. I gain something and you lose nothing, why does this bother you?

There really ought to something you get if play through the game completely naked while on Nightmare. Something distinctive and easily identifiable. After, if they are going the multi player route, the other players need to know they're playing with a perv.
A golden pair of underwear, the bards will write songs about them for ages to come.

Let us not forget challenge and skill improvement as well.Playing on nightmare from beginning to end puts one in a survival mindset, which forces one to put extra care into builds, tactics, armor, accessories, combos, party groups and supplys.
Playing on easy and being able to just bash your way through the game only diminishes skill as there is nothing to challenge the player.
@ Bolded: Nope, a vet would take everything the game has to throw at them and still come out on top.Origins on easy gave the player small mobs of monsters while cranking it up to nightmare would make that same mob a bit larger.
