I always liked the "meanwhiles" in DA:O...such as Loghain addressing the bannorn or consulting with Howe on how to deal with the Wardens. It made it feel more like an epic tale, IMO, and added a sense of urgency as well as the sense that the Warden was not the only major player in the story. That is something I would like to see again, as well as the above suggestions
I really liked those as well. I thought they were well-done and added to the plot, especially when Loghain and Howe hired Zevran. Another fave was watching Anora threw up her hands at Loghain. I liked the gal's spunk. I wish she had been featured more in DA:O.

It needed more anime-style fighting and a voiced protaganist.

I hated those. It creates this metagamey feel that is hard to dodge. You know what is going on with the villain and are naturally going to think about those things in your decisions but your character should not know that. The warden doesn't know what is going on with Howe and Loghain. I was all ready at the Landsmeet to go pull out my Howe was torturing people and then when Loghain responded I got this massive derp because I forgot that while I knew how close Loghain and Howe were, the warden didn't and shouldn't have and had absolutely no evidence.google_calasade wrote...

DLC alone: When killing Corypheus, there are cinematics for:
Mage Hawke
1 Handed Warrior Hawke
2 Handed Warrior Hawke
Dual Wield Rogue Hawke
Archer Rogue Hawke
And they all brutally 'kill' Corypheus in their own personalized cinematics.
DA3 needs these.

I miss the type of cutscenes (or cinematics) like when the warden slayed the archedemon that cutscenes when the warden was yelling (or grunting) and when he does the killing blow he goes from panting to that yell I was like F*** yeah. Anyways my point is DA2 didn't have these awsome cut scenes and I hope DA3 gets them back. Who is with me
DAII has a lot of these.

Totally. I totally recall when the camera zoomed in on my Hawke as he performed his level 3 ultra move with the background being replaced behind him with some random color and speed lines as he yelled out his move. Then, when it connected with the enemy the game went slo-mo and the background got replaced with some hyperdrive looking outerspace graphic as my foe died. That was then followed by my Hawke posing and wiping more nutella on his nose with his middle finger.
It was pretty badass, but I agree. Way over the top.

I think the whole battle at Ostagar scene, short as it may have been, was way more epic than anything in DA2. I hope they bring back stuff like that
I agree. In fact, the introduction, is my favourite start to a game. Even after the first playthrough, when I knew more or less what to expect, it had a big impact. The cut scenes in Ostagar and the Wilds play a big part in this.
Meeting Cailan, walking under the hung men and meeting Morrigan set a scene. After that, the joining got me worried (Why are my prospective companions dead?). The battle started well (Lots of fire arrows, mabari and men charging.). Bit of a problem at the tower, so I expect a fight to turn the situation round. First floors, all going well.
Then an Ogre, and to echo an earlier post "You cannot be serious!". First playthrough was a very close win on that one leading to a feeling of triumph after the kill animation. "Aha!" I though, light the fire and get on with the game. So now Logain bottles it and Cailan and Duncan die and the next thing to do seemed to be fight my way out of the tower and find a way to carry on. The next scene looked like a real "game over" moment leading to total confusion.
I've rambled on more than I intended, but the effective use of cut scenesis something which the production team did well, I think, and the game would have been far less involving if they had been left out.

I liked the meanwhiles for the most part. However, it spoiled Zevran's surprise attack.
I think it was meant to spoil it a bit - in a sense that it was meant to make us approach the encounter with certain emotions. When I saw the cut scene I got so angry that I thought 'I'll show you, you cocky Crow! just you show up on my path!" I was convinced Zevran would be one of the main antagonists in the game, following the party to different locations and trying to assasinate the warden. I was really surprised when he finally attacked and my warden couldn't kill him because he turned out so funny and clever. I think that the main point of the cutscene of him being recruited to assasinate the warden was to introduce us to Zev as a new NPC and make it a difficult decision to let him live and join the party. To me, it was one of the greatest cutscenes in DAO - not in terms of visuals, effects etc. but in terms of creating a mood and unexpected outcome.
